wouldnt worry about it to much right now...

Maybe they will sway off their summer feeding, to their fall/winter pattern and you will be in the chips

Hopefully last year was one of the worst hunting seasons I have had. Does not help the new house that was put up on my neighbors land.

One of my neighbors have been seeing 9 deer around their property hopefully some of them will start to venture up here during the bow season

I saw a show about Butterflies... Did you know that the monach, when it does it's annual migration it actually flies around 2000-2500 feet high catching high level winds, which take it from Central Mexico to Southern Canada!

Father Hennepin State Park on the south end of Lake Mille Lacs has Albino deer living in the park. (Which also doubles as a wild life sanctuary.

Nainoa, you see my reply to the culvert question?

Okay... let's put it another way...

So let's say I'm dealing with Forest soil loam... Call it a 50 foot driveway, Eventually it will probably get millings over top of it... But it might spend a year or two with just gravel...

What would you do to say keep it from washing out, until it gets the millings?

I'm getting one of the recurve Horton's...225# Legacy.

Smallies, musky, walleye, and crappie...the only thing missing is stripers.
Yes, stripers not strippers.

I still need to get a hitch on my new work truck. It looks like I may need to haul something in a couple of weeks. :)

Your posts earlier in the season got me really psyched up for some stripers. Those were some niiiice fish. I will have to head up to Pyramid Lake near Magic Mountain one morning and make that my mission. Bout the only place within 300 miles where I have any kind of shot at one. Let's hope everything isn't on fire that day.

Re: yeah I have to get my truck set up for trailering soon, too, looks like we will start the serious boat shopping (i.e. be ready to pull the trigger on something) after Labor Day. Labor Day which, if you can believe it, is only a few weeks away.

Are you getting any other suff installed besides a hitch? oil cooler, tranny cooler, spring helpers on the back, or anything like that?

With a Mid sized truck, I highly recommend a tranny cooler...

As for Oil... Switch to Mobile 5000 synthetic and get the Napa(Wicks) 5000 mile oil filter... And your oil will be able to take it.

Spring for the receiver hitch (If you don't already have one?) And then just be smart about making sure you're properly matching the tongue height.

You'll take a lot off the life of your leafs (Dakota has Leaf's right?) If you just make sure when she takes the final load completely that the Tongue of the trailer is level, or slightly inclined. (Which means more load is on the trailer axle and tires.)

What's your owners manual say about towing capacity and the max load of your box?

*****

Something else to keep in mind... Keep some tow straps or chains in the truck... Since you are 2 wheel drive mid size is something goes wrong, and you have to ask for help at a launch, at least you'll have the straps you need for someone to help you.
(To date I am the only person I know who hasn't gotten at least mild to moderately stuck at a launch for some dumb reason.)

Does the Dakota have hooks on the front?

****

How much experience do you have backing trailers?

unless this gravel drive stands a few inches above the ground it would be ok for the most part except where the culvert is...

First, level ground will help...

areas of my driveway where there is any slope, the water rushes it and moves the gravel around.. It usually isnt bad though except at the end where the gravel can run into the road and ditch because of the incline...

Bigger gravel will not be as easy to be washed out.

putting blocks or rocks along side of the drive at the ditch to keep the gravel from falling to the side and being washed down the ditch is best.. I wish I had my pics to show you this...

if any water runs down by the culvert still.. cut a small drainage ditch to divert the water into the ditch and off the gravel (I have an area where the water pools just at the top of the incline and then spills over into the gravel and pushes it out into the street. I cut a ditch to run along the wall of the driveway and it solved it)

the circle is the culvert and the square type shapes are the blocks or rocks...

get the idea?

the arrows are there just to show you can extend the rocks farther to get more wall to keep the gravel from washing up farther or below

Yeah I think we kicked this around before....planning on all 3 things I mentioned up there ^, recalling what you were saying. Will look into the other stuff.

Here are the specs:

Maximum Payload: 1800 lbs.
Maximum Towing Capacity: 6100 lbs.
Drive Type: RWD

Already running the Mobile One. I'm sure backing up a trailer takes some practice but I have teh mad driving skills, I'm not sweating that part although I doubt the judges would score me very high on my first few attempts. Already watched 10 different videos on it about 10 time each.

Those are some nice stats! So she'll be able to handle the lug and chug part of it.

****

I STRONGLY recommend finding a quiet parkinglot somewhere and doing some backing practice.

One of the problems you find with backing a trailer is that the more small problems you have the bigger dumb **** the people around you start doing.

Like when I have to back my trailer in to the yard, I have to back it in an S pattern (Which has some tricky Jack knife potential.)

And I swear to christ everytime I back in... I get 2 idiots wanting to drive down the road... They stop for me... And then start inching closer (Like you see people do at a red light that's about to change.)

So if I have to correct, or pull forward, they keep boxing me in tighter and tighter, making it tougher.

Or the old Pull in to a gas station to fuel up.. And just as you're getting ready to leave Juan pulls nose in to you, and locks his keys in his goddam Volare.

So you can either:

A: Wait 2 hours for the lock smith to get there...

B: Back out of the parking lot around the corner, and into rush hour traffic.

(Yes Strong Bad Day!)

*****

Probably the biggest thing that you will have to play with is Mirrors...

From the Class of boat you once described wanting... You're probably going to run into the problem of looking in all your mirrors and seeing nothing but boat...

Which once you get good you can back 90% on mirrors alone. (The only time I don't back purely on mirrors is in that damn S Curve.)

If you go to an auto parts store (Or Fleet Farm) you can find both little blind spot mirrors and backing mirrors that clamp onto your existing mirrors, to widen your scope of vision, so you'll be able to see into your blind spots, as well as see more than just "Boat" behind you.

Without mirrors... It's only a matter of time until you back into something... Or say back off the side of a ramp etc...

*****

Something else to keep in mind, when Cross chaining, use an underhook, not over... If you over hook and hit a serious enough bump the hook can come off (Ticketable in MN). If you under hook, the bite of the hitch eyes will keep it from popping.

And of course, don't skimp on the cotter pin. (I just use my tongue lock!)

Just tomato juice. I remember my grandmother canning tons of tomato juice when I was a kid. I guess the first thing I need to do is buy a pressure cooker :)

I just boil mine in my stock pot, with an inch of water over the top of the jars and a half inch of headroom below the threads.

Pressure cooker does the same thing... Just a little faster.

Have you considered just bagging and freezing it?

****

This year I'm converting all of my Tomatoes into Frozen Spaghetti sauce (8 of my 12 plants are Roma.)

I'm simply blanching, seeding, crushing (In your case it would be food milling?)

Then make the sauce by adding the other vegetation... And then I'm just pouring it into bags and freezing it.

Frozen bags layered on top of each other take up a hell of a lot less space than jars. (And as long as you get the air out by vaccuming or just the old squeeze and seal, quality should be fine.)

*****

So now I'm curious... As I'm also a big Tomato juice lover... What do you find/use/do for sweet balance of the juice.

Basically... How do you make your juice?

Nainoa

Yeah all the pressure cooker does is make the water boil faster... It's the head space and the heat exchange, in conjunction with the lid that causes the seal to happen.

Boy the last hour sure has been a good one...

Got home, got laid upon walking through the door, then the phone rang as I was pouring myself a whiskey... It was my buddy telling me that the chainsaw I want to buy just went on sale.

Instantly hung up with him, and the phone rang again

It was my Mom, telling me that my Dad just got home...

He pulled through the procedure, and the Meds took effect at just the last second. (They were wheeling him into the lab to put him under for the Electroshock procedure, when it took effect.)

I guess my Mom said that the VA bus dropped him off... He walked out, knealt down on all 4's and kissed the grass... Then rolled over and made grass angels!

I talked to him and he said "I've never been so happy to be home... The strange characters I met at that VA hospital... Ooooohhhahahha... I gotta go now... Gotta take a giant dump, and a 2 hour shower!"

Now I'm following that up, with my wife now going out and buying me Pepparoni, Jalepeno and Onion Pizza at my favorite mom & pop Pizzaria!

As one of my favorite songs goes "Some days are diamonds... Some days are rocks!"

Gotta enjoy the diamond days!

Woooo!

Damn that's a nice Expy... The ford SOHC engine usually is missing a little punch... But that's still the 5.4 Liter Triton V-8... I have the same thing circa 2001... And it's got all the punch I want!

I would book it with Kelly blue book and NADA... Just to find out just how much of deal they might already be offering...

Then when you make the offer... Be sure to A: Approach things like you're a knowledgable tough ass... And make sure you mention something about... "With Gas prices the way they are..." "If you could bring it down to 24K... It would personally make me feel like I was getting a couple of months worth of gas free with the deal... And that's the kind of business my friends and I like to do!"

I mean word it your own way of course... But make sure you accent "Gas Prices" and hint at some kind of referral, which makes him feel like "Hey, this guy is going to send more business my way." So it's more worth his while to deal well with you.

*Working in sales myself... The tougher times get the more value referrals takes on in the mind of the sales person!

So another trick, is to find a way to ask for multiple business cards of his, to "Hand out to my friends who are also in the market."

^^^^I used this to get $1,250 knocked off my truck!

Speaking in the world of culinary science... Corn tastes better when it's grilled in the husk over an open flame.

The things that make sweet corn so amazing, all the phenols and other such aromatics that give corn that flavor that makes you weaker in the knees than a first kiss... It's all fleeting.

In fact the two things that destroy that Magical chemistry are Picking (Which starts converting natural sugars into bland starches) and husking.

If you want the absolute optimum Corn eating, without walking out into a field and bending a stalk into a pot of water...

You soak it in water for 2-3 mins... Then put it on the grill in the husk, on high coals for 3 minutes, rotate a quarter turn... then another 3 mins, per quarter turn...

Once they've been through the 12 mins, toss them all at once into an old cooler with a warm damp towel thrown over the top... And let them all steam their juices still inside the husk... 10-15 minutes later you can take them out and husk.

I actually prefer to just wear a welding glove on my right hand, and hold the stalk tab... Peel back and adorn with butter, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.

Then I just eat with my right, switching to the "Reverse Turkish Grip" to eat the other side.

****

Something else to think about doing with corn is to get a pan of butter and 2 tsps of smart balance oil (For smoke point control) hot... Then quickly cut the corn from the fresh stalk... And drop that corn in the buttered oil, and sautee, till you see the fringes turn golden brown.

Then put it in the middle of a mound of garlic mashed potatoes as if it was replacing gravy... Works well with a Medium Rare NY strips steak sitting along side it all!

Yeah I grill, smoke or BBQ at least once a week.

Back in June I had one week where I had at least one grilled meal a day for 9 out of 10 days.

If I could start my own personal religion I'd worship: steak, fire, four wheel drive trucks, whiskey, walleye and football.

Yeah the Jet stream is starting to trend to the south... So even though there's less total heat energy... All the continental heat energy ends up in a smaller area.

I love catching the stipers...no fancy topwater dancing, they just pull like a freight train toward the bottom. It's you vs the fish. They give their all and when they are done, they are done. No more night time topwater fishing until April, but we have a chance to catch them in the "jumps" early in the morning later this fall. It is primarily trolling now.

Speaking of news and big busts.....lots of local outlets are reporting the theft of a bronze bust from Redondo Beach.

http://www.dailybreeze.com/news/ci_10127336?source=rss

With all due respect to the man, who would want an unmounted bronze bust of George Freeth?

None of them are saying what in all probability was behind the theft; it was stolen for scrap. I may have mentioned earlier in the year that they were stealing copper from ....well, everywhere, but freeway and traffic equipment especially.

It's getting bad out there.

Edit: but that's not what I came here to say.....TGIF and here's to a great weekend. Let's hear about some plans of action, even if the plan is to have no plan. I'm still kicking a few ideas around.

I'm buying the new chainsaw tonight... Then my buddies are coming over and we're going to test her out. Then have a Bon fire and talk about our upcoming vacation.

Saturday Work around the house... Sat Evening I've got an IDP draft that's going to take 6 hours. (So I'll be around the computer and probably rambling between picks from 3-9 CDT)

Sunday, chill, work around the house... Then Take my wife shore fishing... There's a spot on the river where there is always a smallie to be caught...

So we're going to get her a fish...

Then I'm going to settle in and watch more "Ice Road Truckers."

LOL at the guy stealing a giant hunk of Bronze...

I hope for his sake it's because he loves George Freeth...

Because there's no way the average Joe Friday can do anything of value with Bronze... It's a Copper and Tin Alloy... Only a professional Foundry can separate out the Copper and Slag the Tin. And I'm guessing the Foundry is going to at least ask "So uh... Where'd you get this?"

No, I don't think anyone suspected the thief had anything like separating out the tin and copper in in mind. It was most likely intended to be sold for scrap to a place that buys scrap metal, and there are plenty of those around and they do buy bronze.

But after the news coverage, which they maybe didn't anticipate, they may have reconsidered, or at least know they cant try and shop it around here. But you never know. They might have a stash of stolen scrap to which they would just add this. Don't forget we're just 2 hours from Mexico. You don't even stop going into Mexico, btw, you just drive right in.

Currently the thermostat (In the cool center of building) is set at 78 degrees... And then locked out the progam mode with a password.

I'm in an office on the exterior annex of the building, south facing windows, in a computer lab with machines and light table huffing out heat...

I bet you it's 83-85 degrees in here right now!

This will be the third day in a row that I've sweated up my shirt... SITTING AT A DESK!

LOL... When I looked at the pic the first time I thought it looked like an Eel Pout, but the coloration was all off from the freshwater's I've seen, and I didn't think you had those in salt water!

****

Pout are like the scourge of the sleeping Ice Fisherman... Only bite in the dead of night... And when they do they come in like cookie monster and bite on every single piece of bait they can find.

So you're dead asleep, and all of a sudden all the rattle reels go off... You wake up, head pounding with the dryness of last nights whiskey, and think "Oooh... I bet it's a whole Pod of Walleye." So you set the hook real hard, and can't help but notice that all 3 other rattle reels in the house moved the same amount that you pulled on your one.

Then you have to fight the slimy evil beast up the hole... It wraps around your arm 3 times, completely making a filthy mess of your bed shirt and sleeping bag. (My bed is positioned so that I can lay in bed and land fish, which has it's Pro's and Con's.)

Finally you get it unhooked and then spend an hour untangling the lines while your buddy rolls over and let's you frack with it.

Get all your hooks rebaited, and back down to depth... Click off the light...

"Ah... **** that sucked, but thank God that's over!" You think to yourself... Then just as you drift off to sleep all 4 rattle reels go off you spring out of bed, and think "Now that's got to be that pod of Walleye Moving in!" So you set the hook, and notice that all 4 lines moved the same amount that you pulled...

****

So in short... I hope you pounded that things skull into a strange orange paste, then pissed on it's quivering corpse and fed it to the ugliest sea gull you could find!

good morning to the weekenders

I have this mauser model 98 in 30-06 that I am trying to sell for my mom. Had a guy come out last night to look at it and he came to the conclusion that it is not what he is looking for. Not exactly sure why, but thats cool... His money, his choice.

Anyway, after holding this rifle several times now, cleaning it, checking the rifling, etc... I have really come to like this rifle.. It has a nice custom sporting stock, but needs a better scope.

Now I have never been a 30-06 man, but this thing is growing on me, especially because of the looks and awesome stock.

I am contemoplating shooting a few rounds through it to see if I really like it and to see if will hold a group. I fear that I will like it too much though???

I kind of need a big game rifle(long range) since I sold my 7mm last year, but I am caught i the middle of a conundrum here. I dont really want to spend the money, and I sure dont want my mom to pitty it off on me.... Decisions decisions.. :D

Good afternoon ramblers. I just got back in from work.

Nice looking gun PW...now if it just shoots good.

jwd...scatter small feeders around. Those little birds are extremely aggressive and territorial. If you don't already know...you don't need to use store bought food mix. Mix 4 parts water with 1 part sugar, bring to a boil, and then let cool. You can make extra and store in the fridge until needed.

Once you get comfortable with a gun it is difficult to change. I have plenty to choose from, but now use my single shot H & R for about everything. 30/30 barrel for deer, 12 ga barrel for turkey/squirrel, and a 223 for varmits.
I have no need for anything else...well other than a ML, a handgun, etc. etc. :)

Figured I'd check in... Killing time before my IDP draft kicks off...

Got a strange sinus thing bugging me today.

****

Bought the new saw... Decided to take it up a notch...

Walked in there with $180 and was thinking about getting a Husqvarna professional grade saw but wanted to check everything out.

By the time I was done poking around, I was convinced the Husky was the way to go.

Originally I was going to get the 1.8 HP saw... But the same exact saw with a 2.3 horse motor was $20 more.

So I sprung for the big one... Bought a really good case that holds all the tools, tuner, oils inside the same case, so I don't have to do the old 2 case truck... By the time I was done I Spent $286... For a 16 inch professional grade saw.

Got it home decked it all up, and she fired up in 3 pulls... Cut some branches... Damn... Like a knife through butter!

*****

When I was at the Store I was helped by a guy who used to work as a logger for 25 years... So I took the time to just stop and listen to everything he had to say...

Definitely learned a lot!

Yeah I like Stihl... But the same saw as my Husky was $200 more... And while it's a high quality brand and all that... Pfft it ain't $200 better than my new Husky.

(Granted Husky is going through a line change, and I was at one of their pro-rated dealers... So I'm probably sitting on a better deal than I realize.)

Perennial Sunflower, False Sunflower, Violet Queen (which looks like a tall garden phlox) and Rudbekia are also good for butterflies.

If you could plant the coneflowers now it would be a good time of the year. It allows them to establish their roots and will create a thicker fuller plant for next spring.

Planting them in the spring is ok too but you will not have as thick of plant as if it was already established from the previous year.

I have these varieties of coneflowers (Ruby Star, Magnus, White Swan, Purple, Orange Blaze, Ruby Giant, and Fancy Frills). There are quite a few more varieties one is a double decker which I used to have but died.

While trying to escape through Pakistan, Osama Bin Laden found a bottle on the sand picked it up.
Suddenly, a female genie rose from the bottle and with a smile said, "Master, may I grant you one wish?"
Osama responded, "You ignorant, unworthy daughter-of-a-dog! Don't you know who I am? I don't need any common woman giving me anything."

The shocked genie said, "Please, I must grant you a wish or I will be returned to that bottle forever."
Osama thought a moment, then grumbled about the impertinence of the woman and said, "Very well, I want to awaken with three American women in my bed in the morning. So just do it and be off with you." The annoyed genie said, "So be it!" and disappeared.

The next morning Bin Laden woke up in bed with Lorena Bobbitt, Tonya Harding, and Hillary Clinton at his side. His "privates" were gone, his knees were broken, and he had no health insurance.

Good morning ramblers.

Frog legs....my farvorite. Nice that someone in here is getting something for the skillet again.

Don't tell me "69" is on the bad list too??? :) Are you older than me?

Frog legs I do not think I would try eating that. My dad tried them one time when he was a kid and said they were not that bad.

How's your Dad doing now? Is your Mom still planning to strike out on her own?

How's your Dad doing now? Is your Mom still planning to strike out on her own?

Thanks For Asking...

Dad is still going like a champ... But it's still like 3 months before we know if the treatment and new meds are really going to work in the long term...

And my Mom hasn't said anything, as she promised me...

But she did make a crack after I told her that my wife and I were okay with the idea and she said "Well maybe you guys can just get an even bigger house and we'll both move in!"

*****

So I don't know...

14 years ago with this heart thing first popped up...

I got a call from my Dad saying that he needed to go to the hospital, and that my Mom wasn't home...

So I drove over and brought him there... Got everything settled (Which took hours)... Then went back to his place to get his stuff and figure out what happened to my Mom, as she never showed up.

I got to his place and she had cleaned the kitchen, was making a turkey in the oven and had rearranged all the cupboards.

^^^^Now since that initial melt down she's shown better and better coping skills... (Even when I was a kid and got seriously injured she'd melt down and I'd just take care of it myself.)

So maybe this is just a Two-Steps forward and One Step Back in personal growth, when it comes to dealing with the stress of a family sickness.

Only time will tell...

But my psychic left elbow tells me that if my Dad turns out Okay... That my Mom sticks around... And if he gets sick... She'll eventually try to fly the coup... And who knows what happens then.

So you're now stuck in the wonderful world of "not knowing what the crap" is going to happen. Stress does crazy things to people. Who knows maybe they will grow closer. I guess it is just wait and see for you now.

Just a little insight for you...

My wife got up this morning...gives her Mom her meds, gives her some special drink through a feeding tube, gets about 30 minutes to herself, then fixes her Mom breakfast, calls in order for Depends :( , and is now helping her Mom take a bath. Full time job for my wife. She is a great daughter.

When it comes to my Mom, she's been Melting down, freaking out, punting away and making me clean up the mess my whole life...

Nothing new...

I guess in a Psycho-analytical kind of way, it's probably what's made me a Go-To guy, "Rock" kind of person that I am today.

At this point I'm just happy that my Dad is doing good... And like everything else... Just take it as it comes...

That and there's something to be said about serving others...

I think one of the seemingly forgotten secrets of the universe, is that the best way to truly get a head is to serve your fellow man.

I think the world is actually hardwired in such a way that it is those who give which get the most things that really matter.

We just tend to miss this from time to time because, in a world of objects it's easy to measure gains and losses in objective ways.

There's a certain magic of personal growth that happens when we serve each other... When we serve the world. It has a way of enriching us, that money-possessions, fame or any of the other clap trap can match up to.

There's a substance to the world that you can't define in Tactile terms... And energy gained by Giving a Damn.

I think the world is going through a phase right now where the God (Or whatever) Is trying to reveal the value of "Take care of others as well as yourself."

It's just we're having a hard time breaking out of the extreme of thinking "Only of myself" or "Always giving to others till it hurts."

This year I've had to mow a lot...

Then we just had a dry spell, turning my grass brown... With all this rain and the rain forecasted ahead... It's sounding more and more like I'll have to mow right before I leave on vacation... Or leave my wife with a jungle for a week.

Well right now there's a Low parking over MN for a couple of days... And since Low's Rotate Counter Clockwise it's pulling Great Lakes Moisture over top of me. (We get lake effect here as well, just in a different way.)

So as long as it sits on top of me the mid Atlantic should be clear and sunny, as that Low is going to act like a fat kid stuck in a doorway, not letting any other weather through.

At wetest best... I'd guess you'll be on the edge of this system...

Promotional Ad Sales... I get paid well for (Comission based) things started out hot, and now with the economy they're dead cold... But the busy season starts in Mid Sept, and this is the natural lull.

The main reason I stay here at this point is because after 9 years, they're loyal to me... They refuse to pay me competitively... But as long as I don't do anything stupid... I've got a pay check coming in till the lights go off...

If I jump ship... I spend 6 months out of the industry against my Non-Compete... And then go to another employer who has no loyalty to me, so no job security.

As it stands... Until the economy gets better, or I re-invent my career (Working on it) I'm stuck here.

Yeah he should have done what Elway always did in the last 3-4 years of his Career...

"Coach... I need some time to think about it, but I'll let you know by the draft!" And then stick to it.

*****

But I've always said that the biggest problem with the Green Bay Packers was Brett Favre's status as a legend... He was catered to by the fans and the organization for a very long time...

And in a lot of ways it made it hard for the team to rebuild when they should have, because they always had to "Try to win one more for Brett."

Every season he was becoming more and more of a weight on that organization... Which is sad because he's a local hero, and will always be remembered that way to Green Bay (Regardless of this last drama.)

Personally... I think Favre is dried up... And last year was a fluke

Ultimately, the only time I get to be "Creative at Work" is when I design my own shirts for my fishing buddies (Once a year.)

*****

On a spiritual level I've become so bored with the fact that I can't be creative in the ways that I'm truly creative, that I've taken up painting again at home in my free time... Which has been emotionally liberating.

Here's some examples of the last two shirts I designed for my fishing buddies and I...

Those two I drew myself...

The body posture I looked at a magazine cover, to make sure I got all the fins in the right place and position etc... Then colorized and detailed it all by hand.

I'm not sure if this is a state-to-state variable law or if it is nationally enforceable, but basically as I understand it, non-competes don't hold up in a court of law. Basically, it's saying that you can't work (other than McDonalds) for the period of your non-compete.

And since most firms that have non-competes are for highly skilled and/or specialized personnel, it's not like you can quickly jump careers and replace your income immediately.

Now a non-disclosure is different. You should not be able to share proprietary information from your previous employer with a future employer (especially one in the same vertical market).

If you're ok with it, no biggie; but if you're considering making a move and the threat of the non-compete is scaring you, talk to an attorney to find out what your state and local laws allow.

Also, don't forget that just because your employer puts a legal document in front of you and asks you to sign, there's nothing that says you can't amend the document. If you can get in touch with the legal reviewer who is the counter signer, you can express concerns and strike portions that you don't agree with or that you feel will put an undue burden on you or your family. As long as they likewise agree, and counter sign it, you are good to go.

I did this when our firm passed around new non-disclosure documents. There was some pretty loose wording that would allow them to go after me and my family under very weak grounds. I could not allow that to happen, so I struck the sections I didn't like and explained it to the contracts manager and he agreed (and modified his own, too ;)). Him and I are the only ones in the company that have a 'customized' non-disclosure document.

So like I do a lot of shirt designs, award programs, clothing lines and such...

But probably a third of my job is just simple stuff like "Put my Logo on a mug" or "I need a new Business card."

To start out I do all my rough ups by hand... Then I go digital... Make Digital Roughs etc... And then once I feel like I've got it dialed in... Then I do the whole thing on my Mac... Switching back and forth between a couple of different programs... But most of the graphics work is Illustrator and Photoshop.

*****

I've never done a Coyote or Wolf... (But I have thought about doing a Timberwolf some day) So I'm not sure how long such a design would take me...

To the General populace I charge out at $40 an hour ($60 an hour professionally) and for Friends (Such as members of the Ramble) I only charge $15-20 an hour depending on their rep power!
;)
:D

If you had an idea of what you were looking for, and what you were printing it on (Which is a factor in stream lining the design.) I could give you a pretty solid Guesstimate.

Him and I are the only ones in the company that have a 'customized' non-disclosure document.

I already took it to a contract lawyer, when I looked to "Jump Ship" about 2 years ago... And his advice to me was to comply with the Non-Compete...

The clause says that I can't work for a competitor for 6 months, within 60 miles of my business, and that I can't call on a former client for 18 months.

The way it's worded is pretty tight, in that it's actionable for them to file an injunction against me, and the other employer... And then there's some other verbage about how I have to tell the new employer about my Non-Compete, or else they can lay some kind of penalty against me.

I looked into it because one girl left here and went to a competitor and while my Boss hemmed and hawed, nothing happened... And at that time I didn't have the promotion I do now... So I was thinking about jumping ship...

Shortly after I talked to the Lawyer another guy jumped ship to a competitor and my boss fed up went after him.

So basically the way it's written up is I either have to Move... Or I have to get fired, and collect 6 months of unemployment, or change career fields. (Which... Loop Hole wise, there is no apparent language about me "Free Lancing" off office hours.)

Shot a bow tourney last weekend. Only 7 showed, but 3 IMO are some of the top shooters in the county. I shot a 270 (out of 300) and finished 5 :(

Morning fellas. Busy as crap here at work.

Never shot in a tournment before. I am going to set up my target I think today and maybe tomorrow get some shooting in.

Some of those league shooters have some fancy bows. With the scopes that cost so much money. I bought a cheaper model of Hoyt they go up to close 1,000 just for the bow.

Curl Master

Yeah, it's fast enough that they are really not needed, but they came w/ the bow so might as well use them.

No mention of the Packers/Bengals game last night? What did you think?

Jones looked really good. Could of had two touchdowns if Rodgers had not of overthrew him on that one pass.

Receivers were making some good adjustments on Rodgers passes. He was not real accurate. Did not have a bad quarter though throwing over 100 yards

Both rookie QB's looked bad.

Great weather again here today.

See as I get older, I yell at stupid drivers more...

I mean I don't stew on it...

But like the guy who last march was talking on his cell phone as he dropped his kid off at what I presume was a friend's house...

He backed out right in front of me without looking... I had to crank the wheel, jump the snow bank, power through the deep snow, and back out onto the road again...

Or else I would have drove my F-150 40 MPH, T-Bone right into his wife and the baby seat in the rear passenger side.

I pulled up along side him and he flicked me off...

So I rolled down my window and said something like:

"You stupid Mother-F*cker, put your F*cking Cell phone down when you drive... Do you realize that you almost made me kill your whole F*cking family... Except your orphaned daughter over there... You... Stupid, Heap of Rotten Pecker meat... If I ever see you and your dumbass driving with a cell phone in your hand, I will put my boot so far up your ass that I'll spend the rest of my life tieing my laces through your nostrils."

Then I nodded to his wife "Ma'am... Glad to see you're still alive."

Then rolled up my window, flicked the guy off for good measure and drove away.

*****

Then just yesterday, when I stopped at the liquor store to stock up before my trip next week (Beast was on sale.) Some idiot nearly side swipped me three times over the course of 100 yards getting to the parking lot.

He parked, I parked next to him...

He got out as I was walking by, cell phone still at his ear... I pointed at the phone and said "Look Lady, next time don't talk on the phone when you drive."

^^^^Once again... Just like how I think there needs to be more of an implied threat of violence for disrespectful douche bags... I think stupid people will keep doing stupid stuff and selfishly thinking they're getting away with it, until you call them on it.

Maybe it's the fact as I get older I do more stupid things myself and therefore more forgiving. :) I really don't know.

Now if one of them cussed me or flipped me off it MAY have been different...maybe not. I can't believe how calm I have become in the last year or so. Yeah they say that Vascular health in your 20's and 30's has a lot to do with quality of life in your 60's and 70's.

****

In my case... I'm making a resolution to get in peak shape again (Focusing heavy on the cardio)

Starting when I get back from my birthday trip next week... Until Walleye opener in May...

Then I'm going to go in for a full physical, and if after all that my BP isn't "Good" and they say that I need to get a scrip, then I'll go for it.

Reminds me of when I had that groin tear...

Part of the problem was that it had been a minor tear that I just kept reaggrivating. (Until I finally decided to try to use my Oly Rack for an intimate interlude with a particularly kinky lady.)

And I really tore my groin good. (On the border line of needing surgery.)

Before taking any surgical route I always exhaust other options...

So I tried this PT thing "Ultra Sound"

Several treatments, where they break up the scar tissue and improve blood flow with a special gel and a warm gently vibrating wand thing, that looks like a shower head.

*****

All fine and good (And it worked, didn't need the knife.)

Problem was... My PT was HOT...

I mean SMOKIN HOT...

Tall lean blonde, well tanned... Nice Perky C-Cup rack... Sultry voice...

Damn was that hard... To just lay there no pants or underwear... Smok pulled just enough to the side that my garbage wasn't showing...

And this gorgous Woman with a loose low cut shirt leaning over me, gorgeous rack spilling out massaging warm gel into my groin, saying in a steamy voice... "So tell me, how does that feel?"

Hardest I've ever tried not to get an erection!

As I was folding her up like an aluminum chair at a wait watchers meeting, I'm pretty sure my garbage spilled out and nearly suffocated her face, for the 1.2 seconds it took me to get my wits, balance and get my feet underneath me.

*****

Some how I think the story of the sweaty balled giant man that nearly crushed her to death, came up immediately upon the first person who dared to ask her "So how was your day?"

She did... They were all odd sizes and colors... And during the procedure when she was leaning over to assist the doc, her breath smelled like fermeted pig semen.

She was trying her best to comfort me (It hurt so bad I was seeing stars.) And while she had a gentle almost grand mother's like soothing touch, the site and smell of her made me want to spit up everything I'd ever eaten in my life!

Nice white semi straight/to perfect teeth do it for me. When someone smiles and they have yuck mouth I cringe. I am just fortunate to have had the advantage of getting the procedures of modern dentistry.

Yeah same here ML. Plus my dad was a crazy alcoholic dentist and I got worked on a LOT. (yes still traumatized). But it was fun playing with the wax and bumsen burner and all the crap back in the lab. I probably have mercury levels higher than a thermometer factory.

Do you think your dad was traumatized by drilling on people's teeth and possibly hurting them? (If that doesn't make sense I am referring to dentists high rate of suicide)

Did your dad scold you for using the bunsen burner? :D I was seeping deeper and deeper in my chair when my dentist was drilling on my teeth. I had this blank look on my face and he says "MISSINGLINK, are you still with us?" :D

Meh...

Really... Mercury-heavy metal poisoning is over rated... Everyone back in the day played with mercury and had it around...

Rub a little on the back side of your nut sack and it makes viagra seem like tic tacs!

Okay...

I had once where they didn't use enough novocain... And it was starting to hurt, but I was just toughing through, since I hate being numb forever... Didn't realize I was showing it, until the Hygenist says "Careful Doctor... He's making a fist!"

Something like that. I made a (semi-serious) post awhile back outlining my theory about that, will try to find it.

He didnt care, he loved when I played with fire. I would take plates of pink dental wax and 'weld' together sculptures and models of boats and airplanes and stuff like that.

Wow, no novacain? That must have been painful as hell. I like how dentists say "Don't put any metal objects in your mouth." What is the first thing they grab for?

I got a shot that numbed the whole side of my face. I was dumb enough to start biting my lower lip because it didn't hurt. After awhile the blocking agent wore off and I had a fat lip and was in severe pain. :D I never did that again.

Was it your dads own practice? I wanted to go to dental school for the longest time but sophomore year happened in my undergraduate years and my dreams were ruined.

Fixed ;-)

Yeah he had his own practice, then started a clinical professorship at NJCMD.

Everything I have seen convinces me it's not a nice way to make a living. The money can be good (or not) nearly everything else sucks. How you'd like to spend every day reaching into someone's gross-ass mouth with bad breath, mucus, saliva, plaque, blood, bitching and moaning your nearly-constant companions. Yet, how can a dentist, once he/she realizes they hate it, change careers short of completely starting over? Essentially they cant, most are stuck in that profession for better or worse.

I always admire people for taking the box, turning it and presenting another explanation for something. Nice work. I thought it was all glory and collecting a hyuuuggee paycheck. Starting over for a dentist?? I couldn't even imagine that. You get all those loans payed off and then want to do something else. A friend of mine has a husband who finished podiatry school (yes, fresh with all those loans) and has gone on now to dental school to be an oral surgeon. I guess those reasons you listed were some that why you didn't go into it.

No they just didn't use "Enough" so I could "Feel it" but I wasn't dead numb either.

I had an extraction that went bad (Impacted wisdom tooth, killed the last molar, and they had to basically RIP both of them out of my face in an emergency procedure) Took 3 hours to clear it all and the Novocaine was starting to wear off... **** was that rough.
