View Full Version : Honesty: Things "Wrestling" That Make You Happy

I just got off work, and it was another long night at my crappy job. Thankfully, I was able to get through it. I just did what I usually do: Think of things wrestling that make me laugh, or happy in general. Nine times out of ten, it works! Since I was having a bad day, I did the usual, and thought of this promo:
mV38FRJ6Gas
This promo always makes reconsider my situation at work, and usually makes me realize that I don't have it so bad.
Or, if I'm ever in need of a good laugh, I usually think of this:
laiZgrIpbcA
Once I do, I'm usually on the brink of tears from laughing so hard. Needless to say my co-workers will always ask, "What's so funny?" And I'll respond, "If I told you, you'd think I was insane." Which they probably already do, so it's all good. :D:D
I don't know, there seems to be a lot of negativity on the internet in terms of wrestling. The IWC seems to focus almost exclusively on the negative. So, I'm curious:
What in wrestling do you enjoy, or what makes you happy? Is it a book, a catch phrase, a promo? Anything? Sometimes I think people on the internet are overly critical of the business, and I often wonder why they watch at all. Surely there must be some redeeming value. So what is it you enjoy about wrestling, or makes you happy in connection with wrestling? At the end of the day, we are still fans, aren't we? lol.

Honestly, collecting ROH DVD's used to make me happy. Like wherever I'd be during the day, I'd think about the next series of ROH I'd get to order and then I could look forward to them coming in the mail. Even if I wouldn't get around to watching them right away I would be a major fan of collecting and having them. I'm that way with games too.

Going to independent shows has somewhat gotten me back into being a fan of wrestling. For a while with WWE I just felt like I was watching something, but I didn't feel I was getting the most out of it that I could. Then in 2006 I found 2CW otherwise known as Squared Circle Wrestling (cliche, but it works) that is based out of Syracuse. I've gone to many shows of theirs, most recently this past Saturday, and nothing brings back the fan in me than going to those shows. The atmosphere compares to the Philly crowds for ECW in the 90's, its just electric in there. The cards they put on are almost always good to excellent, and you're bound to see a few matches that just show you what wrestling is all about. So for me independent wrestling has helped me get back into it, and I haven't had so much fun being a fan then when i'm at those shows.

Yeah they have DVD's on their website, but the quality at least for the ones i've gotten has been subpar. And honestly watching the DVD's ain't the same, but their website is 2cwwrestling.com and they have DVD's listed on there. I recommend the Rochester show from June 2007 as the crowd was pretty hot, and this past show the crowd went ape**** during a few segments and that DVD will probably be out within a month. This is also the fed where the Sandman fell asleep during the match, although I wasn't there to see it myself.

I don't even consider myself much of a wrestling fan because nowadays it's 99% crap, if not higher, but I think the last major thing that happened on any WWE show that made it totally worth it to me to watch and that I felt good about was the Angle-Lesnar 60 minute Ironman match in 2003. I was on the edge of my seat the entire hour. So anything that would make me a fan again would have to be something on that level.
That match was incredible. I think they must have gotten together beforehand and said "Ok, we're not going to pussyfoot around for the first 45 minutes. I'm throwing down a superplex in the first 5 minutes and that's gonna be the friggin pace of the match. Oh it's true."
Other than that, minor interesting things were a Cena segment that was pretty funny, a couple HHH segments that were funny, occasionally Kennedy is great, and Murdock singing Friends in Low Places.
