View Full Version : Opinion: Favorite Angles/Feuds?

My favorite feud or angle would have to be Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart starting at the 1993 Survivor Series. Booked all the way up until SummerSlam '94, I thought that feud was just booking excellence. From the breakup at Royal Rumble '94, to Owen winning the Wrestlemania 10 match and KOTR '94, to the blow-off match at SummerSlam '94. It was booked near perfectly. Owen got over huge and this feud produced some classic matches. (Wrestlemania 10 and SummerSlam '94) For me, this is ideally what any booker would like to achieve in a long-term angle/feud. I'm a sucker for long-term booking. If executed properly it's the best, IMO.
Another example/favorite of mine is the booking of the Mega Powers breakup. Wrestlemania 4 through 5 was a very exciting period in the WWF. Probably the best period for the company during the 80's. What are your guys' contributions?

Another example I just thought of was The Rockers breakup. That feud was excellent. When Marty Janetty came out of the crowd on that episode of Superstars or whatever it was, I marked out like crazy. And then smashing the mirror over Sherri, lmao! All the way through to the cage match on Raw. That feud was just done right to the tee. Both men got over like crazy! I think that was the point where Michaels really came into his own as a heel. Immediately afterward, he started feuding with Curt Hennig and it was off to the races from there. lol.

I gotta agree on Austin/Bret Hart-USA/Canada (all time fav).
Dreamer/Raven (probably known as the definitive feud in ECW)
Funk/Cactus (The on-going hardcore bloodlust feud)
And I'll also say Tanaka/Awesome, LT/Bam Bam

Some good choices. I forgot about Tanaka/Awesome. That feud was very good. LT/Bam Bam? Crackhead (LT) vs. Cokehead (Bam Bam, RIP) ???? Just kidding. That Wrestlemania match saved the show! LT delivered in the clutch. (Much like his football career.)

Exactly bro! I just thought it was awesome seeing one of the all-time greats involved in a feud against a very good worker and entertaining badass in Bam Bam.

Not to mention it saved what was otherwise a horrible show. The match that was most expected to bomb delivered the goods. Supposedly, Vince paid LT $1million for his work. I don't know if he drew enough money to warrant that, but he certainly did his best! Also, that was one of the bright spots of 1995 for the WWF. (Which was a pretty bad year for them.)

From memory the show bombed financially, no doubt made even worse by the crazy number of celebs they hired that meant nothing- Salt N' Pepa, Nick Turtturo, Johnathan Taylor Thomas, Jenny McCarthy, Pamela Anderson and others.
I thought 1995 was overall a good year for them, they had some great shows and matches. Although KOTR and the October IYH were two of the worst shows ever.

I'm surprised no one has said HBK vs. Triple H yet. That's one of my favorites.
For all of those who said Funk vs. Foley, you might wanna read my fantasy booking for a match at Wrestlemania 25...

Wow someone's an Undertaker mark. No wonder that person sorta stuck his nose up about my list.
More Undertaker coming in the top 25 list btw.
Another favorite of mine was Bret/Lawler.

Lawler was amazing during that feud. He really sold well for Bret and came up with the some classic jokes on the Hart family. That was one of those feuds that seemed like it never ended but always entertaining.
Can't argue Taker/Foley as classic feud as well as Taz/Sabu

There are a bunch, but a couple of great ones from near the top of my list are Bret versus Owen and Flair versus Steamboat.

I loved that feud. Lawler was the man. I remember Lawler talking mad **** (since he was a colored commentator) and he's like "i'm gonna wipe the floor with all these guys, especially Bret Hart". He then gets his number called, and 4 seconds later Bret Hart eliminates him lmao.
