View Full Version : Default New tanita scales with body water %

I am always hesitant about using the Tanita scale that show %bf simply because water loss can really skew the results. For example if you go on a low carb diet you can lose alot of water as the muscles lose glycogen that is not being restored. This can cause your LBM to drop quite a bit even though you aren't really losing muscle.

However if these tanita scales can really measure body water % then we could have a way of factoring in hydration to get get more meaningful number for bf%... Meaning you could adjust the number to some sbody water %..

Thoughts on this ?

they cant measure anything, forget about it

totally useless
They even have a paragraph in the manual saying that it shouldnt be used on bodybuilders as results will not be correct

The other problem too is that they measure your lower half much more than the top half ..
even if the measuring it is doing was accurate
