--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello guys,

I have read some articles indicating that it is impossible to lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously. The theory makes sense. To lose fat, one needs to create a caloric deficit. To gain mass, one needs to do the opposite. Attached is my progress since I started serious bodybuilding in the beginning of the year. To date, I have lost 17 lbs of fat and gained 7 lbs of muscle. Here is the kicker: I have been on caloric deficit since starting my quest for a better physique. I use accumeasure to measure fat loss. I also use a tape measure to measure my belly, which went from over 40 inches to a little under 36. My gut feeling also suggests that I have gained mass since my strength in certain exercises remained the same, while other exercises actually improved - specifically squats and deadlifts.

I'm not complaining by any means, as I am very proud of and happy with my accomplishment. I just want to hear from the pros regarding your thoughts on the subject mentioned.

Again, is it possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time?

thank you.

I don't know about all the science, but you're doing great, amazing transformation.
But to answer your question, just by using this chart and if this chart is correct then yes you can gain muscle and lose fat simultaneously.
There are many testimonials of those who have done just what you are doing.
It takes a lot of diligence and hard work as I'm sure you will testify.

To answer your question. Yes. It is possible. The key is to keep your protein intake VERY high.

Thanks for the replies. I was following Big Beyond Belief III from January thru March. I did Titan for the entire month of April. I was also on the Anabolic Diet from February thru end of April.

Starting May, I switched over to Optimum Anabolics, which includes weight training and diet.

The results, whether one program or another, have been consistent. I believe the high protein portion of both diets allowed me to gain muscle. And the caloric deficit helped me lose fat.

I will post progress pic this weekend.

Here is my latest pic. There is a bit of difference in transformation between this pic and my current avatar, which was taken a month ago.
