just started working at my ymca, i am working on getting my PT cert, so right now i cant actually train people....so its kinda boring just sitting at the desk, cleaning off the machines, and answering peoples questions about the equipment. Right now its not bad, but damn i need to get my cert asap...i can;t just clean machines all day!

I know exactly how you feel bud. I took a pre requisite course about physiology and anatomy and thenn I took a two month course to become a personal trainer. Afterwords, I was so excited to train people, but I couldnt find a job. I finally got one at my gym and I was soo happy. I was pumped. I couldn't wait to get started. I drove 45 minutes to a new hire orientation only to find out that I couldn't be hired until I graduated high school. This was a couple months ago. Luckily, it seems that i'll still have the job when I graduate. But it sucks to have to wait. I have all of this information that I've learned and no one to use it on. I'm glad that there's someone who understands how I'm feeling. Good luck with your certification.

I took a course with the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education (AAPTE). It was ran through Hofrstra University, a local college(I live in new york). It was such a great course. Yeah I don't know how much you'll benefit from an online course. I think you'll be better off going with a real course, preferably one with in gym, practical applications so you can learn proper form for all of the major excercises. Everyone in my class, including me, were surprised that they were doing all of these excercises wrong for years. I've applied these techniques to my own workouts and I've never seen results like this before. Go with a good class. It'll be worth it. Trust me.
keep in touch and let me know how everything goes. Good luck

You just answered your own questions - get your cert asap - research which cert you can get fastest - IFPA is a somewhat nationally recognized cert, is study at home, and you can pay extra for express grading -
Then get some experience anywhere you can - stop cleaning machines - bad for your self esteem -
Then go out on your own -
