dammit lol i was training my client as part of cert 4
and i had her over like 7 weeks or so. we hat like 8 sessions or bit more anyways i remeasured her today and she gained size
i could have sworn she was looking better and getting more fit
but her girths prove different
her waist i took 6cm off
but her thights 4cm or so added
the only way this could have happened is if a - shes been eating heaps and poor diet and/or b - i stuffed up the first measurements
which may be likely cos i was nervous seeing it was my first time with a client one on one
has anyone ever had any of these things happen to em

First of all, I have no idea what cert 4 is; you'll have to enlighten me.
Are you saying that she had 8 training sessions over 7 weeks or she say you 8 times in weeks? If she saw you 8 times in 7 weeks but continued with the programme by training on her own some other days of the weeks too, then you have to expect some kind of results.
Was she a complete beginner to training or did she have some experience?
Was fat loss her goal and, if so, did she have a lot to lose?
It is not uncommon for someone who is training for fat loss to gain size (or at least weight) first before losing body fat. You said that you could have sworn that she was looking better. Well, perhaps she was. Muscle is a lot more dense than fat. Additional muscle increases metabolism, which is one of the main reasons why we have trainees do resistance training. However, before you can reap the benefits of this, you have to put on that muscle in significant quantities to make a difference.
You also said yourself that you could have messed up the original measurements. Furthermore, girth measurements alone don't tell you much. Her body fat percentage should have been measured too and compared with girth measurements. Supposing her body fat percentage went down, while her girth measurements went up! That means she lost fat and gained muscle - that's what we're all aiming to do.
Was her diet monitored throughout the 7 weeks? If her goal was fat and weight loss and she merely added exercise to her life but didn't change her diet, she can't expect to get any results. Lots of people either don't comprehend that they are eating too much or the blatently lie when they're reporting on their food consumption. Maybe you should challenge her on this.
However, before you do that, you should be absolutely certain that your initial measurements were correct.
