2 lbs a week has been proven to be good amount of fat to lose (healthiest) and for it to stay off :)

If she is adding muscle while losing fat, weight lost will be less but her body will look better. Which is her priority; scale number or body size?

everyone always asks that and IMo its just wrong to even ask it.

99% of people WONT do all those things so it doesnt matter what number we come up with, lol.

just have her put in the 4 hard months and let the results worry about themselves

I'm currently 177 lbs. and have been for over a month. I work out 3 days on and one day off. I lift heavily and intensly and do 1/2 hr of cardio/day. My weight has not changed much from when I began, but my body shape has really changed. Jeans fitting better, lost the "muffin top", feeling better. My diet is pretty clean, not perfect. she will see results, even if it's not a drop in weight.

I have to second this. I started at 177 and am down to 169 in 12 weeks. But, my body has completely changed. Most of my pants are now too big. I went from being a size 10 with the occasional 8 thrown in to being a size 8 with an occasional 6 thrown in.

I know how you feel, the scale won't tell all. I've recently learned that measurements are extremely important as well.

In the last 3 weeks I've only lost 0.8 pounds. But my body is definetly recompositioning. In those 3 weeks I've lost 0.5" off my waist, 1.5" off my hips, 1.0" off my thighs. I can definetly tell a difference in my pants too.
