View Full Version : Replacement chin bar for powertec rack?
Anyone know of a replacement chin/pull up bar for the powertec rack? the original is lacking mainly because of how short it is and the curve downwards which makes wide grip near impossible.

Youd have to fabricate one yourself, its much easier than people think, just go to a welders shop from your yellow pages and tell them exactly what you want, bring in the top bar, and they can weld you a bar with two end peices to stick out, wrap across then bolt onto both sides of the rack. Maybe price is around $100 or even much less.
At least thats what I would do.

If height clearance isn't an issue just put a barbell on top of the rack.

I have but it was with my nybb 8515 rack. I've had about 10 modifications added to mine. And now it is superior.

I'm going to pick up my modified pullup handles and hammer chin attachment this afternoon. I'll get some pics up then.

The welder I work with will usually do any sort of small alteration for $40 to my rack. I had him redo my hammer chin attachment, add some more grips to my pullup handles, and cut down the rear pullup bar. Much better than anything I've seen from any midrange rack on the market right now.
At least for my needs. The more vertical row options the better for me. It's always about getting wider.:)

He's also making a small leverage row attachment for my rack. He emailed me some pics about it last night based off a idea I gave him.

I've pretty much got any pullup/chinup/hammer chin and angled grip variation I can think of now on my rack. Though I am thinking about adding one more pullup bar. I figured it would be like an curved bar similar to an ez curl bar.

How much did the hammer chin attachment cost you? That thing is sweet.

I've been thinking about getting one of these and bolting it to my rack.

The welder I work with did it for $50.

I have that attachment as well. It's pretty good. Though it was way too wide for my taste. So I had it cut down. I also prefer to mount it upside down. The curves at the end seem to take stress off my wrists when doing pullups/chinups.
curving up is normal? maybe I've had mine upside down this whole time...

curving down should be 'normal' or default

That is sweet. Did you take your rack apart and give him the top post or did you just give him the measurements?

Well they are held in place via bolts so all 3 of my pullup/hammer chin bars can be unbolted from my rack in a matter of minutes. It's a sweet setup. All I really have to do is give him the spacing measurements when I want something done. But if I add another pullup bar I might have to take off one a piece of the rack to have him drill some more holes for a side attachment. Though I have not decided if I want to do that just yet.
But I am thinking of adding one more pullup bar that will resemble an ez curl bar on the side of my rack.
