Just starting the thread while Matty and I wait to go back for the night show. Results will be posted tonight and pictures will be posted over the next few days. Props to nevrilkphoto for taking great pictures. Me, matty, and mxs all ended up eating qdoba after prejudging and it was amazing to say the least haha.

yes, ton of guest posers. Kai, trey, dexter, victor, cutler.... AMAZING contest they put together. One of the biggest and most professionally organized shows in the northeast hands down.

1st place heavy novice (out of 11)
1st place novice overall out of 20 competitors total (Dont let the novice fool you, extremely tough competition at this caliber show and the pictures will prove.)
5th place open heavy (top 2 qualified for nationals in each class) EXTREMELY TOUGH CLASS and I'm absolutely thrilled with my placing. I had multiple pros congratulate me. No feeling like having Bill Wilmore waiting backstage to tell you how awesome you looked haha. I was by far the youngest up there and came three spots away from qualifying for nationals.
I will let Matty and Mxs elaborate on this thread on how they did.
I will begin to post the pictures I have tomorrow once i return home, and as photographers get them to me ill post more. I will also be appearing in an issue of Ironman magazine in a few months or so. Hell of a night considering this was meant to be a warm up show. The Lehigh should be interesting....
Feeling on top of the world right now gentlemen... but for now, I gotta take this lady out for a bite to eat :)
and BTW, Matty, mxs, are billy and some of the coolest bros ive ever met at a show. Thanks for all the support tonight fellas, i had a blast. I look forward to seeing at least a couple of you at the Lehigh. ESPECIALLY YOU MATT! lol

I can definitely vouch for the high level of competition. I was impressed with how many great competitors there were.
Congrats to the 3 of you!!! You all looked great! I wanted to apologize to you guys, I didn't dip out on you, I came back there again, but it wasn't until right before Phil Heath was walking on stage. I guess you guys had left or went out into the audience by then. You know the funny thing is fjock, the guy that won the bantamweights that you were talking to is my buddy that I came up there for. It was kinda weird to see him and you standing beside each other, you are built like a brick **** house

Congrats on your win, you definitely deserved it. Insane abs and overall development, much bigger than anyone else in the open.
Matty you looked good too and should have done better in the judging imho, especially in the teens. I gotta tease you for your 'smoothness' on the trophy platform when the guy next to you bricked on holding hands up for the celebration. Suave.

haha thanks man
I was seriously shocked about the teen. Every single teen came up to me and thought I was top 3 lol. I somehow place in the men's novice(against tougher competition by far imo) and not the teen.. I asked a judge about it, and he said my color was ****ed basically and it was..
I went tanning quite a bit and my skin was peeling so it ****ed everything up bad.. I was honestly near depression after the teen, then i found out i placed in the novice lol.. just wow
I got so pissed after prejudging teen, I started chugging water and eating candy lol..
Lunch was great with brian(fjock), slammed down some burritos and mcdonalds :D

I said **** it, I am going to diet until I dont want it to be a question who should win the class. I seriously thought i was the leanest/biggest teen but my color sucked plain and simple and it screwed me and i will learn from the mistake
I didnt even want to binge after my show, even though i did eat some mcdonalds and mexican lol.. Today I am just gonna take it easy and eat when hungry then hit it hard monday
I should mention Fjock and MXS are real cool dudes and Fjock is an aboslute FREAK.. I seriously think you could get your pro card bro.. I dont know many, if any 21 year olds looking like you

24 weeks lol
I am NEVER getting so heavy in the off season.. stupid as ****.. If i could of stayed fairly lean and dieted the same length I could of been shredded
I was 232 starting my diet lol
I get the cheat meal back but only for like 2 weeks and depending on how much i gain from this weekend I may just skip it next week and only have one
i went on stage at 184-185 a bit dehyrated and I was like 194 just now.. so not to bad
I weighed in at 176(Was 181 12 hours before weigh ins then downed a ton of laxatives lol)

Haha we worked our asses off to recover that tan bro. Was tough work but was at least much better then when you got up that morning.
Bros, i also had a half ass binge last night haha. I think it was mainly because I didnt wanna look like an absolute pig in front of this chick. And I was scared of rebounding too bad because I think Im going to stay on track for the Lehigh. But she understood why I made us stop at mcdonalds after dinner for MORE shakes matty hahaha. You guys should have seen this guy after prejuding... We hopped in my whip along with one of the guys that I competed with in the open since I had known him from a prior competition. We drove down a street with a crap load of restaurants and I thought this poor kid was gonna lose his mind. If I didnt say something when I did i think he might have had the most distended belly ive ever seen. Matty finished his burrito at the Mexican place literally but I even sat down with my order. I put my head down to take a bite and look back up and this man had already gone across the street to mcdonalds to get a mcflurry i think.
Bottom line is, I think matty is one of the funniest kids ive ever been around. Had me crackin up most of the day. Even though things were going crappy with the judging, he was able to keep his composure back stage and continue with the novice and open. I wouldnt for a second let him think about quitting bbing... that mofo simply has worked too hard and too long for that kinda non sense.
Anyway, I should be leaving this hotel rather soon so i can get my ass home and show yall some pictures!

haha, except for anyone considering during the NY Pro next weekend, they are all almost off season im sure. It was an amazing site back stage guys... I walk back after the open placings and there was literally like all the top pros excluding just a few guys all pumping up at the same time. And this is when almost all the NPC competitors had cleared out mostly so we were easily outnumbered by the pros ha. I was messin with trey brewer (although hes not pro) and asking for some bulking techniques since we have similar strategies haha.
The funny and strange thing to me was... I felt the least bit star struck like i thought I would been in a situation like this. Didnt feel the need to bust out my camera and get all crazy or anything. I was mostly just jokin around with the guys as if I had run into them all before ( a few I have). But just watching the way those guys carry themselves at these sorts of events... really makes me sure that this is the goal I want to strive for. I love this ****!

Sure they were all bulking with the exception of Fankhouser and Trey who are dieting down for shows but usually most of them look good off-season but in those pics they were all looking like major crap, those md photos are a piece of crap really...I doubt they were looking nearly as bad as the photos showned...

a little back double bi action with the big boys. I was thrilled to be part of the first callout. The guy to my right is the dude Matty and I hung out with after pre judging. He competed at the Philadelphia with me last year but he was a light heavy. This guy has competed all over in all different levels of comp. He did the amateur at the Arnie Classic... awsome guy from Sierra Leone(West Africa)

I dunno about the lehighs, I am doing the PAs for 100% sure in allentown in june.
I am still very much up in the air about the lehighs.. We will see how I get back on track this week. I did just eat some mcdonalds and drank like a gallon of chocolate milk and orange juice lol. Good luck at the lehighs, get that overall!

Yo Brian and Matt, I want to congradulate you guys on your winnings!
I took 5th in the Open Lightweights. My color was off for sure. I put 7 or 8 coats and still got bleached under the lights. Its a shame I didn't place in Novice and it still doesn't make sense but you live and you learn.
Brian, I'll see you at Lehigh! Lets go from 5th to 1st buddy!
I start cardio back up tonight

Hard dieting followed closely by an expert on nutricionism, countless hours of cardio and stuff like DNP,ECA,T3 & T4,Clen,Masteron & Trenb. can do wonders in 12 weeks...

Very true
As more as i know about those drugs, the more i can give credit to guys like Vance because attaining naturally that kind of condition is very, very hard...
This is no knock on the pros because in the end of the day pros and naturals just go throuth the same sacrifice and hard work but it's a fact those drugs do speed up things and can take you to a next level of leaness...
stayfit2008
05-04-2008, 12:14 PM
I take this appraoch,..Bodybuilders using those enhancing drugs put them in their catagory,..anyone new,..i.e. amature who decide to go that route have to compete against that level of competition,..it's very hard to place once one decides to step into that aspect of bodybuilding, not to mention very expensive. For this reason I came to appreciate the natural level. I compete against naturals,..thats it. Good luck to everyody is my motto. :)

Not to be too nosey but where about in Central NJ. Are you going to Rutgers? On a football scholarship by any chance? I was just looking at your profile. If my math is right you did your first show when you were 14 or 15?
Very impressive and polished physigue. Just curious about your background. It is genetic freaks like yourself (of course hard working as well) that showed me I had reached my level within the NPC and it was time to just work out to stay in shape LOL.

no worries about being nosey big dog... You are correct about Rutgers, but no football scholarship. I havnt played football since freshman year in highschool. Yea my very first show was as a 15 year old back when I was forced to move to Louisiana for a year. Met my first female personal trainer who competed with me at that first show in the female master division and we both ended up winning. Ive been addicted ever since that night and I saw my first guest poser (Milos Sarcev). It was like looking at a god seeing a pro for the first time up close. He posed to "Ameno" by Era and was probably one of the coolest routines I can still remember to date.
and thanks again for the compliments man... you have no idea how inspiring they are to me

Just wanted wanted to inform people in case they were wondering.... This is with 11.5 weeks of dieting and was meant to be a warmup show for me until I realized how big of a show this really was. I hope to be able to accomplish a bit more fat loss without losing too much mass to improve for the Lehigh which is also a National qualifier in 2 weeks. Not quite as big of a show as the Pitt.. but still a big deal. If you look at the first pics I posted of me in the heavy open, last years overall winner of the Lehigh is standing to my left. So with him not coming back to the lehigh i hope to at least have a chance to do something big in the open heavy and certainly the junior division...

Was your trainer Tazzy Colomb by any chance.
Are you planning on doing the Collegiates?
Like I said you placed higher than someone that won the masters and placed in the open so you will be in the hunt for sure
If you end up competing in NJ shows you can help youself by training at John Kempers Diamond Gym. He runs the NJ NPC ;)
I will be there so I will be sure to introduce myself

Damn man, you looked awesome!
The pictures on the first page I couldn't figure out which one you were, but everyone's backs looked awesome so I complimented anyway, lol.
But dang, you looked shredded. Great mid section and overall conditioning looked good. I would say work on leg mass during the offseason, IMO they are a tad behind your huge upper body. Not much, but something I'm sure you can fix in the upcoming off season pretty easily.

This guys quads were freakin shredded. Were some tense final moments on stage during the pose down. sooo much fun tho.

That guy's quads were extremely shredded, but his upper body couldn't compare to yours. The open heavy was a tough class. My friend from back here got 2nd. Joel, he's form down here in WV and the guy that won, Will Allison won at the Upper Ohio Valley last week. Those 2 were animals and you did a great job placing in the top 5 of that class.
I honestly think the open heavys and the open middles were the most competitive classes up there

I dont think I ever asked what her last name was when I think about it. Depending on how much longer I am in the area, I might get a chance to do a jersey show. Just seems like they dont get the same hype that the shows on gary udit's website get. I am all about getting all the help I can get to try and take this thing to the next level though. I have definitely made my wheels my point of emphasis. They have actually come along pretty far just in the past year of busting my ass. I plan only to turn up the intensity once I begin this next off season. Ive basically re-taught myself how to squat correctly by starting all the way back down with 135lbs and worked my way back up into the heavy stuff with MUCH better form than my younger years. It really helps to talk to old school powerlifters in the gym... they really know their stuff when it comes to form.
Thanks for the compliments and the constructive criticism though bro!

I dont know how the hell mike was taking Calc 2 test during his prep. I have some summer classes coming up and I really need to get these credits in. Ill make sure I end up at the collegiates eventually unless something terrible happens with my grades in school. Rutgers is no joke when it comes to level of difficulty. Diamond Gym is in Maplewood NJ (outside of Union) so I would say it is about 30 minutes from you and a totally different environment than LA Fitness or whatever else is on Rt 1.:) Hardcore and pretty much any pro or top national guy from NJ has spent some time in that gym. Jason Arntz, Guy Ducase are current pros from there.
NJ shows are top notch, much like PA. The Gold's Classic is held in late October/November and the competition is filled with people using it as a tuneup to the Nationals. You seem to have all the tools and a good head on your shoulder. Good luck and hopefully we end up meeting at the show in June.

I'm going to do the West Virginia State on September 13th in Wheeling West Virginia, it's not far from Pittsburgh. I was thinking of doing nationals this year, but I think I'm just going to hold off on that until I can hit the middleweight class or welters at the least. I'm too tall for the bantams right now. I was thinking of possibly doing the Natural Ohio that Dave Leiberman is putting together also. Not sure yet, but the WV State is a definite and I'll be in the Pittsburgh next year

Yep. James and I used to bounce together on south beach when I was still attending school in Miami and we ended up also training at the same golds as a coincidence since its a good ways from the club we bounced at heh. Hes a great guy and taught me a ton as I was getting ready for my last round of teen shows back in 06. I owe so much to that guy. I was really beginning to meet some important NPC people in FLA but some things came up and I needed to return home to the northeast. Its a shame my bday fell when it did otherwise we wanted to make a run at teen nationals. That guy is a true vet, and he is responsible for introducing me to Bill Wilmore in Miami who is actually a pretty good friend of mine now. Watchin those two animals train together is somethin...
Ya bro I see Arntz all the time up here at LA Fitness. Damn man how are your assumptions so dead on? haha. and btw which show exactly are you referring to in June? Im no stranger to taking the extra time to make it to a "better" gym so it is a strong possibility that I will make my way over there once summer begins and I finish up at the Lehigh. Ive found it extremely hard to find or even hear of any hardcore gyms near this area. So thanks for the tip =). I cannot promise that I will be able to push my competing into June of this year... but I suppose we will see how things are looking. I also need to get back to producing some income so that could mean ill be spending some time bouncing at the shore or NYC if I can find something consistent. Therefore id be back on my bulk to make things run smoother.

Yea, other than the lack of heavier db's (130 lbs and up) its a pretty sweet gym. They do a great job of keeping up with the newest equipment without buying tacky machinery. And the cardio sections are always huge so I feel like I am never in a situation where I gotta wait for something to free up.

not really sure how the judging works, maybe most of it is done in prejudging and its decided by the time you did your routine but the thing that stood out from you and the rest was that you didnt seem to flex your abs much. One of your last posts was the thing ab thing and they showed well there but in a lot of the other poses your stomach looked 'relatively' soft.
Anyhow other than that I would say you were on par or bigger than all the other teens. The guy who won looked small when he came out into the audience.

I wouldn't worry so much about the carbing up, but the coloring. Just be careful with the tanning, as long as you're not burnt, you'll be fine. If you can, start exfoliating 2 weeks out and using a deep moisturizer everyday until you put you're first coat on

Contest weight was 218 which i was actually a little disappointed with, but I had to kick it into high gear to finish getting ready for it because it didnt seem right to treat a show of this caliber as a warmup show. This past season i got all the way up to 265 and right when i was peaking I got some sort of cold or minor flu which took my back into the 250's. It all works out in the end though... Im not ready to be a full time super heavy just yet. I would not be surprised if this is the last year I will be able to make heavy weight though. Im certainly hoping to take my next bulk to new limits.

for sure.. i will follow that advice.. I am still unsure with sticking with jan tana or what.. I kinda liked it where my color didnt peel and look like **** lol
can i borrow your darkness :D
you got ripped off, there is no doubt about that. But I'll be honest I don't think your color was too bad besides some splotchiness in the chest area. how did you do your color?
I also use jan tana. Not sure how you did it but I would recommend multiple thin coats of it that always works for me. I am pretty light skinned so I do 3 the night before and one in the morning.

As much as I keep pushing it to the back of my mind, I still get upset knowing that I was placed 3rd in the lights according to the judges but my color was so effed up, it pushed me back two spots. Also, I did not even place in the Novice class...but Matt did (No offense matty), because of my color again.
I put 7 coats of Jan tana on.............still light. Did I get a crap bottle or something?
The judges also effed my routine up. They had me do TWO 60 second routines??? I stood there on stand like "uh, guys, I already went". I was so freaking confused.

See that is the kid who won. They took me down 5 ****ing spots because of my color. I placed higher against much better competition in the novice which confused me to all hell. I dunno wtf happened in the teen. My color sucked but I was the biggest and probably the leanest I thought, I still need to get MUCH leaner to hope to do well in the men's open and place higher up in the novice. The top 3 in the novice and open were absolutely shredded to the bone. I spilled over too.. The lighting/pics sucked for EVERYONE but you can tell compared to my pics the days before I was much tighter. Oh well. Time to lose this bloat and come in sharper than ever.

I used protan for like 3-4 coats then applied jan tana
the biggest problem by far was I was peeling from tanning so much in the bed and as soon as i applied protan it looked terrible. I showered off the first coat of protan and scrubbed and exfoliated a ****load and it was still to late. I am not going into the bed again until after my next show.

ahhh gotcha well that should fix it. Stop tanning the wednesday befor the show anyway if you even get a slight burn that makes you hold water. I'm at the point now where I can tan 20 minutes without getting burnt.
However, even if you are at that point I think you get a better tan if you get a good quality bronzer and only tan 10 or 15 minutes everyday. Either way don't tan after wednesday before the show.

Yea i didnt even start peeling until that week. I was peeling really bad in the back and it destroyed the color.

Seriously, the guys that were doing the spray tan up there at the Pittsburgh, also did the spray tan at Weirton. I had them put two coats on me and I was MUCH darker than with 5 coats of Pro Tan. I would STRONGLY recommend getting an airbrush tan of Jan Tana over any brush on application. When I was at the Arnold, I talked with Jan and she told me that 2 air brush coats is equal to 6-8 coats of Pro Tan and I must say that is exactly correct. I use to only use Pro Tan, but I'll never go back to it again. Jan Tana is the best by far. You can get the Show Tan on first, then the Competition Tan on and you'll come out being as dark as Jay Cutler! I kid you not, it'll make a world of difference. Just use the exfoliator a couple weeks prior to your first coat and use it everyday, then get your coats on and before you step on stage, put on Jan Tana glaze, and you'll have no worries.
Matty, I'm sure if you do this for the Lehigh, you'll be very impressed, but if not, the show you do after that, you should definitely try it. Or you could even try it 2 weeks before the show and see how you like it then just wash it off and you know what you need to do for the show.

Quads and Hams for sure!! they have been my point of emphasis over the past couple years. And while I have seen a great deal of improvement with them, I still have a long way to go in order to do the damage on stage I want to. Dont worry about any critiquing, I'm totally open to it. We all have weak points at the amateur level and any pointers coming from someone who has been around the game as long as you will be much appreciated. You gotta be able to take the strengths along with the weaknesses... and this game is all about improving the weaknesses.
Edit: and btw bro, I dont know how far away you live from this area but I will be checking out the Natty show in East Brunswick this weekend because a guy from my gym is competing with the Middleweights.

But i know ud be very disappointed in me so I decided I can hold off till the night of the 17th :). Thanks for the support bro
you've got a great physique dude seriously you look great, you doing the francois in columbus this weekend? it's my last of the year and I just spent $160 on junk food at the grocery for after the show. I can't wait! I'm gonna crazy for 4 days then get back on all clean food...well except for friday and saturday nights, well maybe sunday nights too...

how did you end up doing in the upper ohio
I know the guy who won the middleweights. It was his first show so he did the novice as well and the judges placed him 5th in the novice(even though he won the middle open) because they said he didnt belong with the novice lol.
did okay I did three shows so far got 2nd in one ( a smaller show though) got 3rd and got 5th in the upper ohio. I really fcked up at the upper ohio man I was holding so much water it was crazy. I'm not sure what happened I looked like crap.
I was way leaner than my show I did april 12th but I looked way worse. It's amazing how water can mess you up.....
oh well doing the francois this weekend, I live in columbus which will be nice and then I'm done till next spring
