i commonly pay

$1.80 - $3.50 for beef
$0.89 - $1.50 for chicken
$1.50 - $3.00 for pork

It's all in knowing where to go and when.

Well, they are local prices. Some of it comes from a local grocer (IGA) that likes to set up a weekly sale every sunday for meats and a few other veggies and fruits. Some of it comes from other chains, like Hyvee and Price Chopper. I'm finding Sam's and Costco to actually be more expensive on meat unless you are looking for higher cost cuts where it's competitive to buy them uncut. I used to buy round steaks for about $3.25 a lb at costco and then cut them up myself.

Also, some of it can from from a butcher and a meat market we have where you can get just about a side of beef for low prices since you are buying in bulk.

I live in the Kansas City area, so unless you live here, you may want to invest a little time in checking your local market... :)

Chicago, Dominiks/Ultra: Beef Chuck = $.99 - $1.60 when on sale, $3-4 regular. That's the only steak cut I eat.

If I quit eating meat for a month, I'll have enough money to come to america! (almost serious)

Any type of food is quite expensive, but looking at the prices you say.. omg

I don't remember the prices for steak over here but the cheap chicken over here is ~35$ a kilo, which makes it about 17$ to the pound and ground beef is like 9$ to the pound..

I'm a bit lucky....there are two things I cannot eat. I cannot eat Chicken----because I might the only person who doesn't----actually I hate it with a passion. I'm minimizing my pork intake, just because I porked myself out a few months back and I go through periods of not being able to eat some types of meat.

The above has helped me...so I only really eat Beef (in all it's different shapes and sizes), I adore all thinks Lamb (I outgrew my aversion which was because of Lambchop's Play Along (I loved that damn show)), and fish (in it's many variations.

I can give you a price list.

I'm from NYC and basically like most New Yorkers too lazy to go to the supermarket so I have it delivered...Bless you Freshdirect.

1lb Beef Fajita Strips ($6.99/lb) - $7.49

1lb Beef Round Cubes ($5.99/lb) - $6.49

1lb Ground Beef Value Pack (3 lb) ($3.49/lb) - $10.47

1lb Lamb Cubes for Kabobs ($7.99/lb) - $8.49

The above would keep me for about 2 weeks.

I will have to check out local grocery stores. I guess i took for granted that Sams would be the cheapest :(

Are salaries much higher where you're from. If chicken was $17/lb over here, 99% of the population wouldn't be able to afford to eat meat.

Yeah I think the average salary is higher, but we still have struggling people.
