hey all im going to try this keto diet thing. i've researched a few sites as well as a few posts on basic keto dieting. what i would like help on is wether or not the food i chosen is good for keto.

Burgers 300cal 1gcarb 23g prot 27g of fat 10g satfat 1g trans
hot dogs 1401cal 1g carb 6g protein 12g fat 4g sat .1g trans
chicken breasts / salmon
chedder cheese strings 70cal 0g carb 5g prot 6g fat 3.5gsat .2g trans
pepperoni sticks 80cal 1gcarb 4g pro 6g fat 2g sat 0 trans
ON whey protein 23g pro 2g carb 1gfat
eggs
PB

so thats the stuff i had bought. if i messed up then o well i'll eat it all before i start the diet hehe. but ya is my BASIC foundation alright for starts?

also when i read the food lables do i also read the part where it is measured in % ie. fat 5g-----8% ?

thx for the replies

The foods look good....though you could find something better than the hot dogs just because the typical ones have all sorts of crap added to them. I just started to look at the ingredients in stuff and was surprised to find that most hotdogs, sausage and bacon have dextrose added to it.

The %'s on food labels don't mean anything

if you picked up regular jiff PB, I would go back and buy some all natural PB (smucker's makes some) and throw that other hydrogenated oil heavy crap in the trash.

I also keep parm cheese flakes in the fridge that I snack on when I'm hungry.
heavy cream is great in coffee and a great source of fat
my freezer is full of every type of meat imagineable
I slather my steaks in goat cheese. (better than A1 sauce)
I buy eggs by the 5 dozen boxes now.
pork rinds are good when craving a chip-like substance. (good when dipped in melted cheese sauce)
pork rinds also make a great "breading" for wings. (crush them up and add a couple of eggs, coat meat, deep fry, and enjoy."
slim jims are a nice treat every now and then (don't go nuts with them.)
sausage is a great way to look forward to breakfast (I like patties)
don't forget the bacon.
a salad here and there will keep you pooping normally (I go for ceasar without the crutons.)
pepperoni is another great snackfood.
check out the recepies section for some great keto stuff. (I have in my fridge currently keto fudge, keto brownies, and keto PB cookies.
breyers makes some carb smart ice cream bars that are a nice treat, along with 1/2 gallons. (though I find it easier to go overboard with the 1/2 gallons.)
a glass of red wine a night will not kill you either. Just make sure its a single 8oz serving.

All in all I like his diet better than any other. When else can you cook bacon, and fry sausage and eggs in the grease?

I would probably save the chicken breasts for the carb ups and instead opt for the more fattier counter parts like legs or thighs but that's just me.

i personally dont like legs or thighs... so i eat the breast and add bacon cheese and a tbsp of olive oil to make it a "fatty" cut of meat...LOL

Dude, you'll like the natural PB sooooooo much better than that processed crap. I'll go through about 2 jars a month.

I jsut can't get myself to pour the fat on my vegs. I would much rather drench everything in ranch or butter or olive oil.
