Go to there online website..

www.ISSAonline.com

Submit your information, you'll get a call relatively quickly (inside an hour) and if you want there course, then you can purchase it over the phone..it should arrive inside a few days.

I'm in the middle of my course(hoping to be done by Friday)..If you really buckle down it doesn't take long to finish, I've had mine for a month, but haven't really gotten hardcore about it. Which is what this week is for(off work). Once you finish your at home test, you'll send it in and they will notify you if you passed/failed.

You'll receive your cert. in the mail inside of 3 weeks (according to the info. I'm looking at right now). Hopefully it'll be faster than that considering I need to start work asap haha.

Goodluck man!

To get your cert. I don't think so...But to be employed somewhere I'm sure you do. But that could work to your advantage b/c a gym could hire you in advance, give you a job until your 18 to start training. That way you can get to know members and build a clients base before you even get started..So you'll be ahead of the game..

unless youre just trying to get any cert, in that other big PT thread i think they said ISSA is the laughing stock of certs. not sure on that, but it was a good read anyways lol, forget the thread title but it had pages of discussion for newbs.

This is not true. The cert. process for the ISSA is very demanding. I don't care what anybody else says. A lot of people rag on the independent study certification through this organization, but it also takes a lot of time to complete (especially the case studies) if done right. Also you have to get your CPR/First Aid cert. before you will be certified through ISSA.
Good Luck!

the ISSA cert can be looked upon as the laughing stock mainly because it is an independent study and the test can basically be taken open book.
if you honestly want to be a good trainer and learn, the program itself has a ton of great information and you will indeed learn a lot and become a good trainer.
i am certified through ISSA and think the program is what you make of it. if you want to become a trainer fast and dont really care about what you have to learn... sure take the ISSA course and open book everything. but when your boss, coworkers, and clients realize you know nothing, you wont last long as a trainer.
if you put effort in, study, learn, and know the information needed to pass, you will be fine.

There are other certifications you CAN get even before you're 18. Go for an NCSF cert through the online trade school "penn foster". You take all the penn foster course work first, then you get the NCSF study package and testing materials.

The penn foster course work is sent in modules, so they send two, as soon as you finish one, the third come in the mail, finish two, fourth comes in the mail, etc.

The tests are online multiple choice.

It may not be the best cert, but it's one of the top 10 and it's definitely a good foot in the door. May as well start with this one and have some good ground-work before you can do ISSA.
