this is a more advanced topic then the rest of the page
but the facts about training is if you charge 80 an hour , your max income is 160k a year before expenses to either run your studio , gym ,and so on

most business realizes they need multiple income streams
like your local movie theater charges for tickets then pushes candy and sodas

any personal trainers here do anything to create other income streams

ie
write ebooks , make dvds , run fee websites
hirer trainers to work under you
only take group sessions

Well, this is a smaller one but I make an extra 500 a month probably selling supplements to clients and past clients. Just gotta know how to do it. They love it.

I'm also heavily looking into teaching seminars to future/current trainers on how to improve their business and increase profits/clientele.

i guess some ideas would be group sessions, books, dvds, seminars, products (t-shirts, hats, supps,) or even like equipment (gym balls, dumbbells, plates etc).... a good way to find some other streams of income is to think, what else can you offer besides training? what can you offer your client? sure you can give them training, but can you sell them a t-shirt or hat? maybe offer packages? sell them some equipment they can use at home and offer to train them at their place and charge a little less? just need to be creative and give it a try, but if its a big costly idea, id research into it a little bit

Websites can work if you have an hour a day to keep it up and of course the initial incentive the build one in the first place.

but once you have [www].yourowndomain.[com] and a shopping cart you can basically whore out anything you can get your hands on or drop ship. Alot of people do this for extra $$, adding a forum can really kick things up too.
you can pay for advertising on google to get clicks and that 1 hour a day you can write articles or talk on your forums to encourge growth. Eventually it can get huge, if the "fan" base is there, and the domain isnt too hard to remember.

Just look at the one your using now.

Good stuff so far...

I stopped training clients to focus on my website but other than that there is a ton of stuff (many already mentioned) that a personal trainer can do to supplement his/her income.

Stuff that hasn't been mentioned,

CPT Cert. workshop / cert. exam proctoring - Get paid to teach beginners at certification workshops, paid to sit and watch trainers take exams/help w/ practical exam...

Paid Referral Program - Work a deal w/ local businesses to get paid $$$ per referral... i.e. you recommend client to plastic surgeon and surgeon pays you a $$$ fee or %

Secondary Business (Unrelated to fitness) - I have a friend who owns a studio that actually dubs as an art gallery, he has local artists work in some areas (NOT talking Arnold posters) and takes a cut if one of his clients wants to buy.... The possibilities are endless because after the training session, your clients have their own interests...
