After doing MUCH reading (my eyes are bleeding) I've been convinced to give keto a try.

I've been back in the gym almost a year now and eating clean, and while I've put on some good mucle mass I haven't shaped up the way that I would have liked. I'm convinced that keto will get me there. I've also got my wife on board and she's just as gung-ho as me.

Stats:
5'6" (no short jokes please)
180 lbs
15-18% bodyfat? This is a guess.

Day 1 - preparing and still learning keto

Breakfast
3 egg omelette
7 a.m workout, hour of heavy weights
Whey protein shake with water

snack1
8-10 almonds
Canned chicken with mayo

Lunch
Chicken salad, double chicken meat

Snack 2
Canned chicken with mayo

Dinner
3 hamburger patties with cheese, grilled onions and bacon

My macro came out to 52-45-3. I'm following Eileens suggestion of 65-35-5, so I was a bit off. Still a learning curve for me but I'll nail it down along the way. Peed on the ketostix this morning and bingo! Nice and red.

Till next time...

Looks like I nailed the macro today. I'm not sure how long I do the salad thing but for now I'm enjoying it. The wife worked late so I built the salads myself and I must say, they rocked.

No gym today as it's my off day, tomorrow is legs...that means squats!

looks like your diet is right on track now.

i feel you about the salads -- before keto i rarely at salads at all, to be honest. Its funny, because the appeal of keto was all of the meat and fatty foods, but I find that the one meal I love eating daily is whatever I put in a heaping salad. Plus, it helps that you get to drench it in some delicious high fat dressing with tons of tasty meat.

anyway, keep it up, and i'm sure keto will help you reach your goals. its working for me.

First real workout today while in ketosis. I worked legs, started of with squats. I have to admit that I felt a little funky. It seemed that I was gasping for air more so then normal and had to take some longer rests between sets, but I still had a good workout. I seemed to have sweated a bit more as well, maybe it was just hotter in the gym today.

Here's the truly odd part though, listen up. I weight myself every day in the gym using the same scale. For the last several months I have been dead set on 180 lbs. It would fluctate +/- half a pound or so, but always always ALWAYS at 180. I went into ketosis Tuesday morning, took Wednesday off from the gym (normal rest day) and worked out today. Stepped on the same scale that has read 180 lbs for month, and it showed that I had lost 6 lbs since Tuesday.

I'm assuming it's water weight.
