First time figure competing, looking for coach

Hi all. I live in Panama City, FL and would like to do my first figure competition. I'd like to find a local trainer to help me with my diet/workouts for competing. I'm open to people on the internet, but I feel it would be better to do local. Any suggestions on how to find one? Thanks~!

IMO, your best bet is to find someone at your gym or get a recommendation from someone at your gym. i know several trainers/coaches in Florida, but not in the panhandle...but I'm sure there are some there....

so, if you'd really prefer local, you should look into more local stuff (maybe even look on the personals forum for folks in the panhandle that can recommend someone to you)

I agree with you, but the problem is that my gym is the Navy base, and they don't have trainers there. I use the gym facilities there because it's free to me since I'm in the military. I thought about calling the local Gold's Gym and seeing if they could recommend someone...

that's a good idea HOWEVER be aware that they will probably try to sell you a training package from one of their PT's....it's just smart business on their part. so, you need to really make sure that the person you get set up with knows what they are doing. don't be afraid to ask the PT a bunch of questions...if they are good and experienced and can offer you what you need, they will not be offended.

Do you have any competitions coming up in your area? That would be your best bet I would think...Good luck!

Yeah, explore your options at the local Gold's. Be sure that they have successful contest prep experience.

The more resources from credible sources the better.
