After working out on Monday, my legs are sore as hell since I just started going back to the gym. Wednesday will be my next full body workout. I don't want to cause any unnecessary injuries for myself so my question is:

Should I still workout hard and lift heavy even though I am really sore?

No, if your really sore you should take some extra time off. If you don't give your muscles a chance to recover and build you will lose gains, nobody wants that.
