Okay ladies and gentleman. I would like for everyone to share some of your not so good craiglist stories with me. I know that a lot of us have been blessed to find GREAT deals on craigslist. But I'm sure that we've come into contact with some idiots as well when we were both buying and selling.

Here are some of the idiots I come into contact with on a monthly basis in my journeys.

The idiot- These are the guys that attempt to talk you down on your price yet they have no f u c k i n g clue what they are talking about.

I had a guy offer me $100 for a group of specialty bars made by westside barbell and a few others. They consisted of a hammer bar, log bars, safety squat bar, texas heavy duty 1500lb tested bar, 7ft ez bar, and a few others. All these bars together were well worth over $1500. I was only asking for $600 for the lot.

And the IDIOT emails stating that " why should he pay more when he could find these items at any garage sale or firemans weightlifting room."

The too busy to sell person- This is the dumb bastard that is just too busy to get around to selling his item to you. He won't return phone calls and does not reply to emails. And once you do reach him he just can't get around to finishing a transaction today or maybe not even tommorrow. But he will give you a call back. Why do pinheads like this even list their **** then?

The clueless housewife-This is usually a female selling fitness related equipment and think she is going to get $300 for some piece of **** "body by jake" equipment.

The debating windowshopper- This is the guy that will send you emails debating the merit of your listing. He tells that a variety of things might be off or your asking price is too high for the brand your selling. Yet he has no intention of buying ****. Just wasting both of you all's time.

The non-deleter- These are the people whose item sold 3 got damn weeks ago yet they still have not deleted their listing. Get a f u c k i n g clue people. Take that **** off once your **** is done.

"sold" person- These are the people that go back and edit their item as "sold" on their listing. Well if it's sold why do we give a **** then? Delete the f u c k i n g listing already and quit taking up space and wasting my browsing time.

The aggravated to hear from you person- These are the people that seem bothered when you call or attempt to setup a time to come see their equipment for sale. It's like they don't want to bother with you or the hassle of selling their equipment. Then once again take you **** off craiglist and don't bother at all.

The non listing phone number craigslister- These might be the most annoying of all. These people are usually the ones with the nicest stuff and the best deals. But guess what? They do NOT list their GODDAMN phone numbers. So what do have to do? Email them and sit on pins and needles hoping someone did not beat you to the deal. And they usually take 3-6 hours before they bother to reply to your email. I can take the answer "no it's already gone" but it's the sitting around and not knowing which f u c k i n g kills me. Lol.

Well that is all I can think of off the top of my head. Looking forward to you guys and girls experiences.

People who post workout equipment purchased 20 years ago, and they list them at $100 below the MSRP at the time of purchase.

People who post MULTIPLE listings with completely different descriptions. I end up replying to 20 ads with the same return email from each of them.

...or the "flipper", or garage fitness store resale guy (guy buying good deals just to turn around and sell it to make a profit by pricing it just below retail, spamming the site everyday with the same overpriced crap that never sells)

I wasn't trying to sell him anything. He asked a question about a machine and I answered it.He asked some more questions and I answered them. Then I noticed he lived in the same town as me,and he told me he was a drummer, and I am a guitar player. It turns out we know a bunch of the same people.I'm not selling him anything,he has a big cellar with very little equipment and I have a small cellar with way too much equipment. So he's going to store some stuff for me and he gets the use of it in the meantime. He read my craigslist ads and had my number before this thread started, but he didn't know I was the same person until I told him.If you read the thread you would see that I never gave out my number in this thread or anywhere on this forum..He asked about a Powerline PHG and put a link to it with a very high price,I posted a link with the lowest price for that machine. Then I told him what they were worth used and how much I usually sell them for.At that point I didn't know where he lived,I wasn't trying to sell him anything,I used that as an example of their resale value because I've sold a few of these before. If I was trying to sell something on here I would have started a FOR SALE thread with the item listed, this wasn't my thread,it was his.And to recap,I'm not selling him anything, and he's not buying anything.I always list my number in my craigslist ads,but 90% of the people don't call anyway, they only email you.

The idiot who claims he's gonna come by at X hour and never shows up, and you've already turned down 2 other potential buyers in the meantime.

Great list DD.

Got another

****ty pictures people - Where the hell did these people learn how to take pictures? Can you turn on a friggin' light bulb already? Everything looks gray. How about someone other than great granny taking pics, she's shaking too badly.

Not-my-own-pics people - "Oh I didn't have a pic, but I got one from the website", or "Mine looks just like this one and in the same condition". So you drive over there and it's a rusted heap, or missing parts, or a different color.

Seriously, I don't understand why people aren't willing to put effort into being effective.

Another one:

Generic Descriptions - "For Sale: Exercise Equipment $350" -- No that's not the (very bad) title (which would be something like "Stuff"), that's the whole ad. -- What's the point?

Yep. If it's made by Proform or Weider, it should be required in the thread title so we don't have to bother clicking on it. ;)

Some generalizations that I chuckle at:

Ads for cheap benches and plastic weights that people think are worth lots of money simply because the stuff's old.

People trying to unload those crazy ab gizmos they got duped into buying off some late-night infomercial.

Anything starting with "Body By Jake". Believe it or not, I once saw a SMITH MACHINE, at a flea market, made by "Jake"! The guide rods were hollow tubing, as was the bar; plastic bushings; and you could grab the bar and move one side up, and the other side down, almost a foot. The whole thing weighed only about 50 pounds, because of all the plastic. The seller said he paid $200(!) new, and wanted $100. It was still there later that day, when I left.

Stuff so rusty you can't even tell what it is.

Stuff touted to be "What professional bodybuilders use".

Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of bowflexes.

Craigslist is not the place to expect to get top dollar for your equipment. Craigslist is the internet equivalent to a typical country fleamarket on a Sunday afternoon in the spring.
