You're alot further along than I am, or at least you have alot shorter way to go ;) but I'm a mom of 2- (3yrs and 4yrs- 11.5 months apart). I've been cleaning up my diet, getting the kids on board with that too- got hubby going to the gym, and I'm working on laying down a workable routine and sticking to it (without letting real life interfere and set me back :) )

Great thread! I love hearing inspirational stories from moms who've "made it" or are makin great progress! :)

Thanks solstice, I have a 5 month old daughter, and doing the same as you, keeping my diet as clean as possible although I'm working on a routine atm. Hubby already goes to the gym and unfortunately I don't trust their creche so we can't go together for a while. It's at home workouts for me!! ATM It's all about cardio for me, and then once I'm at goal weight I want to concentrate more on toning up.

I'm a Mum of a 5 yr old and a 2.5 yr old. The infant stages are hardest, but you are on the right track!
FF has good creche's! That's where I leave my 2.5 yr old. They have activities, playing, dvd's, it's all good....

The balancing can be hard, but we seem to do it and do it well... yeaaa mothers! :)

I'm a mommy to one 7 year old. She's a Daddy's girl big time, but she's getting very interested in my workouts and want me to flex often :) I work out at home and have a gym set up in the back poorch, she likes to come back there and do db presses (she uses 5lbs) on my stability ball while I lift. I hope that she continues to have an interest in fitness, but I'm not going to push it on her!

I have a 13 year old daughter...the older your children are the easier things get, but it IS possible to be fit with young ones (especially at the ages when they love nothing more than to mimic grown ups--this is also the best time to get them to happily vacuum the house :D ).

I am a Mum to 2 girls, 12 and 7.

I will never give up body building because of what it shows my kids. They never, ever talk about fat or weight only the size of their muscles and how far and fast they can run.

My 12 year old girl told me she loves me picking her up from High School in my gym clothes because she thinks it's cool to have a Mum who lifts!!!!

What other reason do I need to keep going..

I'm a single mom to a 2yr old :)

Whenever I have my pwo shake he asks if that's for mommy's muscles, then asks if he can have some muscles, lol. He likes carrying around my 3lb db. :D

OP - at only 5 months post-baby you are well ahead of a lot of other people. All the best!

I have a 13 yo daughter and 15 yo son. Both of my kids enjoy working out with me. My son lifts with me at home and rides dirtbikes (he's much faster than I am though - the benefit of youth and that bulletproof mindset, not to mention more skill). My daughter is my volleyball player, which was my passion before dirtbikes came into my life.

At my age, I find that the effects of how I treated my body when I was younger show up more and more everyday. I'm just glad that I was always involved in healthy living and athletics! I know a lot of women my age that can not physically do the things I enjoy. I don't ever want to be like that. Fortunately, I also know a lot of women my age that are still out kicking butt and taking names - they are my dirtbike & volleyball buddies.

You are certainly on the right path and it sets a good precedence for the kids to see mom working out and eating right.

I am the mom of four girls ages 11yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, and 16rs.
When they are young it is hard, but I think I get busier as they get older. However, I find time to work out and am hoping to compete in my first figure show later this year!
My girls are great and I think having a fit mom helps them make good food choices and stay healthy.

Im a mom of a boy (6 yo) and 2 girls (4 and 2 yo). Theres no better example you can set for your children than to live a healthy life style and be active! Before you know it they are repeating everything you do...all the more reson to set a great example!

Hey there

I have 2 kids as well - A 17 year old son and 9 year old daughter - it does get easier when they are older, but it's great example for them especially when they are young. My son and I train together all the time and my daughter does her swimming or cross country training too, so they do follow by example. And on week-ends, my husband trains with us too. You are able to create this healthy and happy family environment. It does take some juggling, but in the end it is all worth it :)

In fact, my son and I did our first competition together last year - he did junior bodybuilding and I did figure - it was a great journey to share.

Great thread!!

Another mom here. 2 pre-teens: 9 yr old son and 10 yr old daughter.

My son ADORES training with weights...He likes to spot me, thrives on adding a pound or 2 to the bar or using the higher resistance elastic band :) This kid is all about protein and eating 6543575757 times per day...Costs me a fortune in food alone!

My daugther, while cerebral and not one bit into sports aside from dancing and swimming, is my cheeleader... I hope that with the road I have travelled in the fitnes slifestyle, I am at least showing her that overcoming anything is possible if u put ur mind to it!

We got some kickass moms in here!!!!

I am a single mom to a 2 yr 8 month old daughter. I definitely have to be on top of my time management, in order to fit in the training, but it's doable. I changed my hours from 7 to 4 at work, so I can get my training in before I pick up my daughter from daycare at 6:00. On the weekends, my parents will watch her, while I train. I do all my grocery shopping and cooking for the week on Sundays, with my daughter in tow.

Hi I'm a new mum here:). I have a 9 months old baby girl and a 4 year old boy. I can't get to the gym but really want to do something at home that will build up some muscle!! Any suggestions for a work out? No free weights at the mo either :(...We have just moved countries so money is a bit tight....gym memberships and weights will have to weight a bit longer unfortunatley but I am super keen to get working on me!

I have 2 boys, 13 & 9... Not sure what I'm doing wrong but neither of them do any sport unless I make them! They eat health because they have no choice, but given the choice they'd choose junk.
My husband & I both lift and do kickboxing so I'm not sure were their lazy habits come from!?

Mother of 2 boys - one 7 and the other 3. My husband (their stepfather) has always been an avid gym goer. I started about 9 weeks ago. Both kids now as if they can go with us! I think the best thing for me has been the increased energy I have (I can almost keep up with the 2 of them lol!), and the increased strength that lets me still be able to pick up and snuggle my 3 year old. Then again, I have a lot farther to go than you do!

I have 3 kids. 12 & 10 year old boys and my daughter is 8. We're working on cutting out alot of junk food and keeping more active. I workout at home, so they sometimes like to tease me while I'm doing stuff. That earns them a pair of dumbbells. :D My husband is naturally skinny and does alot of heavy lifting at work, so he doesn't "workout".

We have three kids, 1.5, 3.5 and 5.5 yrs. We have a mini-gym in the garage (treadmill, cycle, squat rack, etc) which is nice because gyms are SO expensive. It's not always easy finding time (or motivation), but my husband makes it easier on me. He's very health-conscious and totally supports my fitness goals. He also puts together all the equipment!

My boys are older, but I still have a 13 y.o. at home who likes to think she is much closer to 16 or 17! :) Her bros are great at helping w/ her and she is a great kid; and we are all working to make ourselves healthier together.

I am a mother of twin boys age 4. I go to school full time, work part-time, and workout almost every day. It helps that my mom and husband are very supportive and will watch the boys when I go to the gym. Even still, I had to join two gyms. One is the YMCA in the next town over. They have great cardio equipment but their weight room lacks. I joined there because they have a childwatch service that is free. If I have no one to watch the boys I go there. The other gym is a few blocks away and it is amazing. That's the one I prefer. It costs extra but it's worth every penny. It's important to me that the boys see their mommy eating right and exercising. I have an elliptical at home and they're always doing their "exercising" on it. I hope as they get older their interest in fitness grows. It would be cool to work out them later in life!

my daughter is turning 3 this week!!! love her! she was worth all the weight I've gained and then some after having her. it's hard not to eat "their" leftovers...especially when I cooked a good healthy meal. i've learned to just throw them away... it's hard though!!! I still get my fry fix by having some of hers. she only gets them once in a while...

Great thread. I'm a mother of two girls, 3 and 5. Bodybuilding finally got me down to my pre-pregnancy weight. Now I want to reduce a little more BF and put on some more muscle.

Pleasure to meet all of you:)
