So I've been trolling through... and I have questions about this re-feed day.
Is it basically just a cheat day during contest prep?
When do you have them and how many weeks out from the contest do you stop having them?

I doubt I would ever try this, I'm too scared to add a single carb back in. Haha. Let me know if you have... what your results were...

cheat day? well..

refeeding consists of lowering your fat (to something quite low), dropping your protein to about 1 g/lb of bodyweight, and raising your carbs to around double your normal dieting amount (depending on your bodytype. ectomorphs go to the high end, endos on the low). This should raise your caloric intake close to maintenance cals.

They actually help you in the long run, if done properly. I started using refeed meals the last couple of years with good success.

What's the frequency you used... every two weeks? once a month?

Ahhh gotcha... yeah, doesn't sound like too much of a cheat day to me. :P

It's not a cheat in the sense of total eating entertainment! Think of it as a metabolic boost and also to replenish dwindeling glycogen stores in your muscles.

you actually want to be above maintenance for a refeed for it to be useful

Most people do them way more often then that. Usually something like twice a week. Typically you refeed on days where you are training a weak bodypart.
