Before I begin, I would like to know what is the purpose of limiting how much rep one can give out in a 24-hour period? Maybe I'm failing to see the bigger picture and I apologize if I'm doing so but it's really frustrating considering that I haven't been able to give a well-deserved positive rep to about 4 individuals today.

Once this is covered, then I'll begin my rant. :)

Danny,

It's probably a measure taken to avoid abusing the system.

It is similar to not being able to rep the same person twice. I think you have to rep 50 other people before you can rep that person again.

Hey there ramoayiraka,

Thanks for your kind response. I appreciate your patience with me. I can understand why they would enforce this limit in order that the same person may not be repped twice (positively or negatively) but I'm referring more so to the fact that there is a limit to how many different individuals one can rep within a 24-hour period. Get me?

i think they have it because a person could make another account and rep themselves 5 million times and everyone would have 5million+ rep power and it would be pointless..... agreed?

I understand putting a restriction to avoid individuals "over-repping". I understand that concept---clearly.

My question is: Why is there a limit on how many different members you can rep (1x) during a 24-hour period?

I think just raising it to 10 would be a good compromise.

It keeps the restriction in place while also opening the rep system up a bit.

Or perhaps the amount of reps one can give depends on his or her rep power? I like the sound of this one the best. :)

Realistically speaking,

Raising the limit to 10, as you mentioned, would be definitely be an excellent compromise. Even 15 might be ideal.

You're very welcome. I understand what you mean now. I agree members should not be restricted in that sense. I can't see a reason why it is so.

Sorry, I might have made it more difficult for you (and others) to comprehend what I was trying to say. I'm glad we're on the same page now.

The same thing happened to me yesterday, debrovnik. I must have given out no more than 3 reps and I was restricted for the rest of the day. It was incredibly irritating. lol
