I have another competition coming up in 16 weeks and this time I plan on showing no mercy. Have been bulking and lifting very heavy since last show in November, and now it's time to start cutting and getting this fat off. For the last diet I did keto, and it tore me up. Lost entirely too much muscle along with the fat. I'm not going that route this time. I lose fat quickly so I will incorporate carbs in my diet to keep my muscle and muscle fullness. I plan on posting weekly pics to monitor my progress. Started cardio today for the first time since November. Good Lord, now I remember why I never liked it in the first place. 30 minutes on treadmill followed by a carbohydrate drink and then my bi/tri workout. Let's get this going!

Nice start and more muscle than I'm used to seeing on a lady. I'm pretty much alone when it comes to haveing any other girl to corrispond with who works out seriously. Nice to see. GOOD LUCK!!

Hey Bufchk, thanks for the props! It's always nice to get support from another female, even another person. Not everybody understands the "bodybuilding" mentality. It's just addictive and the stuff we put ourselves through just seems absurd to the average person. But I couldn't live any other way!!!

Took actual measurements this morning and almost fainted. I haven't weighed myself since January, and, well.....like I said, I almost fainted because of the weight I have gained....15 pounds, BUT, my bodyfat level only went up 2%, so that made it a little easier to take. It's hard not to pay too much attention to the number on the scale. I was purposely bulking and bulk I did!
Have been cutting for three days now, and am very pleased with myself. Haven't cheated once!!! Believe me, that's a real accomplishment because I work right next to a Belgian chocolate shop and the owner is always coming over asking us to sample stuff......drool....
Ate a little more today than the past two days, just to keep things interesting. Going to try several low calories days followed by one higher calorie day and see how it works for me.
Keep repeating this mantra...."Brown rice is my friend. Brown rice is my friend."

Ok...now I really feel like a wimpy female. ;)
Great shots Buffy! You have a super base to start with, and should be looking incredible in 16 weeks.
Good luck!!

Thanks Trish!
One week of the diet and cardio and I achieved my goal of losing two pounds. My goal was one or two and I did it!!! I was a little nervous about my "diet", but I must be doing something right. It just got to the point where I could not believe the size of my butt, I was literally bursting at the seams, of course I blamed it all on heavy squats...as if! The same pants that were filled to the brim last week fit nice and comfortable yesterday. Took my measurements this morning and only lost size around the waist and hip region, thank goodness.
14 1/2 weeks to go!

It is always a great feeling to see those lbs drop and the waist and butt getting tighter!
Great work!

Just noticed this thread -- you're going to do great! Your sweep on the quads looks fantastic already! You also have a nice V taper. :) Good luck preparing for your competition!

It's officially now 12 weeks until show time. Workouts are going great, including the cardio, ugh. This will be my second week of kicking the diet in full gear. Started out by eliminating junk, and now I've got my game plan down for the next 12 weeks. Losing about 1-2 pounds per week, which is the goal. Had a cheat day yesterday, but didn't even enjoy it. Went to BK and had a broiled chicken sandwich, and it tasted like a salt sandwich. Yuck. Even tried to eat a couple of pieces of candy, it was my cheat day after all, but I didn't even want THEM. Strange. Oh well, another week ahead of me, and I'm actually looking forward to eating right. Will post pictures again this week, if I get some decent ones. The flash on the camera just fills in all of my hard-earned cuts, which are coming along nicely, too!

Looking Great Buffy!!!

No Doubt that you WILL BE a presence on that stage!!

Just Curious....

What dessert do you miss having most when you start dieting?

And which bodybuilding pose is your favorite?

Thanks!!!

Keep training smart & hard!!

I've been so out of touch with this darned journal, but I thought I'd post some updated pics at six weeks out. Here they are. I still have some blubber to lose, but it's coming off really well, so I"m not worried. Started tanning. On a carb cycling diet, basically two days very low, one day higher, two days very low, then big old carb up. Has been working great!!! Keeps the energy levels high, because I never get extremely depleted, so I can still work out hard and intensely. Enough babbling already...

Looking great! I can't wait to see the end result! You are such an inspiration at 8AM when I am sititng at my computer DREADING my workout...must do cardio....must lift weights....:)

I seem to loose a lot of muscle when I do KEtO as well. Can you post a sample of your diet for me on the carb cycling phase? I noticed that when doing Keto, I could hardly get up in the morning to workout..I would sleep for hours!

I think I could carb cycle. I have been trying to loose weight for a few weeks and have lost 1 pound. Thats all. I need help! I do not eat a lot of bread, pastas, and such as it is but my weight is not moving! I am still covered with that pasky little layer of fat that hides all of my hard earned muscle.

All the help you can give would be great!!! If I can see a plan I can follow it! Thanks!

Good Luck. You're shaping up nicely. Now it's time to lay the smack down on the comp. :D

I start my contest prep approximatley 16 weeks out, beginning with carb rotation and eventually cycle down to....I don't want to say keto because there's so many forms of keto out there, but it's basically all the good proteins and fats... I have my way of doing it so I don't label it "keto" I introduce it slowly and find it really leans me up and get's me hard.

Keep up the good work.

Mrs. Fitness,
What's up lady??? Long time, no hear. The carb cycling thing has been working great. I've been losing 2 pounds a week, steadily up until this past week when it was only one. No biggie. This is how I have been doing it:
Monday: approximately 100 carbs for the day, including my post-workout drink which has 60 carbs (Dorian Yates Pro-Recover). I do my cardio and weight training first thing on an empty stomach. Some people might lose a lot of muscle doing the empty stomach thing, but I find it works best for me. Plus I have a bottle of water with aminos mixed in with it which I drink during my workout. My diet basically looks like this on Monday AND Tuesday...
Breakfast: 5 boiled eggs, just the whites for no other reason than the yolks make me gag. One ounce of nuts...almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews. 5 grams of CLA.
3 hours later: one and a half chicken breasts, greens of some sort like lettuce or raddichio or spinach.
3 hours later: protein drink and some more nuts.
2 hours later: whatever meat my husband makes me for dinner. Steak is my favorite. 4-6 ounces. plus a salad.
Right before bed: Dorian Yates Pro-Peptide.
If I find myself really hungry, I'll take a tablespoon of peanut butter and that keeps me satisfied.
Wednesday: Light carb up day. Usually half a cup of oatmeal for breakfast mixed with a scoop of protein.
3 hours later: chicken breast mixed with non-fat mayo on a slice of whole wheat bread.
3 hours later: same as before...chik with whole wheat bread.
2 hours later: meat with a potato.
Before bed: Dorian Yates Pro-Peptide.
Then Thursday and Friday back to LOW carb. On Saturday I carb up a LOT. Pancakes for breakfast. A bowl of oatmeal a few hours later. Potatoes. The whole bit. Lowering my protein and fat intake that day a bit though.
Sunday: Repeat on the pancakes but lower the carb intake throughout the day.
Monday start over.
Wow, Hope that helps a little. I don't have a "set" diet as far as the exact foods that I eat every day. It changes day by day, but the protein and fat intake always stays around the same. But I hope this gives you a basic outline of how to cycle the carbs. I find that my energy level is pretty consistent, although sometimes by Friday I'm about DONE.
Am about to get rid of that carb-up day on Wednesday cuz I have four weeks to go and want to come in really sharp.
Talk to you soon!

hey buffy- nice pics...just some comments...
Although this is the diet phase i think you could look even better if you try to get just a tiny bit more delt-pec tie ins...do what ya can ...and on rear lat spread try to position your hands a little higher up above your hips and then do a slight twiist...this will give you more of a taper...you look great overall though
