hey im headed to keywest in a couple days. I really want to go fishing..nothing big no deep sea. just shore fishing. Do i need a licence? how much are they? where are some places i can fish from? reps for good help! -or any addition info :D

Yes you will need a license unless you fish the public piers (I think they have the license charge built in to the pier fee.

You can get a license at walmart so it's no big deal anyway.

As for places to fish - I have no idea, never been to Key West. Try this link and look around the site. Then get in touch with the biologist or game warden for the area you will be visiting. They will steer you right and really help you with more information than you would get elsewhere.

you can always charter a boat.. the best fish are a few miles out to sea, lot of mahi but it varies based on season

once you get there, there are broucheres everywhere for charter boats. just dont get caught on a 70 person drift boat where no one catches anything but each others lines

yeah, i didnt really plan on going deep sea fishing :P haha. there should be somethin to catch from the shore? off the docks or something. This would be the first time fishing in the ocean. I'm from mid canada :D thanks for your reply. reps if still can

you'll get some fish from the docks. if you're not going out in a boat, your best bet will probably be fishing from bridges and under bridges.
