i know standard benches aren't as good as the olympic but i been trying to figure this out for awhile now and i just dont have much room... most stadard benches i saw pretty much sucked but i found this one @ new york barbells, it looks pretty sturdy and they told me if i order a ext(leg/arm etc..) i would get free shipping, what do you guys think?

On any bench/bar setup the bar takes up the most space width-wise, so why wouldn't you have room for an olympic bench?

sorry meant ground space, the narrow bench width wise is something like 22" i think, thinking of getting that + their preacher curl attach for a total 138.95

Still sounds confusing. Are you saying the width of the area the bench would sit on is narrower than the physical space in the same area a few feet above the ground?

i have alot of stuff on the floor surrounding the bench all my other weights and bars, i think the olympic bench is probably about double the width or more of this bench at its widest plus i already have a fair amount of standard plates as well

http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/1505.htmlAs far as standard bench's go, that seems to be a solidly built one at 65 pounds. I kind of like the 'old school' simple design, and in the future if you ever get a power rack, you can just take out the uprights and use it in the rack (no, the upright mounts WONT be in the way). Free shipping too, with the leg extension? Seems like a deal to me :D

ya this thing seems to be pretty good in terms of quality which most other standard benches i saw seemed to lack it even has a 1000lb capacity, its basically 89.95 for the bench and if i add an extension it will put the order over 99 which qualifies for free shipping, the leg ext is 29.95 but i was thinking of getting the precher curl attach @ 49.00... here are the avail attachments

on a side note would anyone have any idea how this bench would be packaged/dimension wise because i was going to have it shipped within the u.s.(live in canada) and just cross the border to pick it up and was wondering if it would fit in most cars, im thinking length wise basically the 61" plus a bit more in a farily slim width box?

http://www.newyorkbarbells.com/95020.htmlThat bench has a 2" receiver for options, which is the industry standard, so you can always add attachments later on if you want. Both the leg extension, and the preacher attachment look Ok, but I'm more partial to the preacher attachment myself.

I'm pretty sure with the free shipping you don't get charged anything. If they will fit on your bench (not sure they will) it might be good to get safety stands just so you're sure you'll be safe if you can't get a rep back up, that is unless you have a person to be a spotter at your house. If you do I might go with leg developer because a better alternative to preacher curls is getting a bicep blaster, at least IMO.

ya im not sure if if the safety stands are compatible with this bench i will have to double check that, i do have a arm blaster already had it for a long time but never really used it much i just started using it last few workouts and am pretty happy with it but it can get annoying as well so i thought the preacher curl might be better

Like I said the arm blaster being better is just my opinion. If you like preachers go ahead and buy it. I feel it is an effective excercise and well worth the purchase it just depends on your opinions, priorities, and current equipment.

the main thing is the bench i'd be fine with either the preacher curl or leg ext, its just nice to actually find a nicely built standard bench though, i am gonna call them tomorrow and find out about the fuel surcharge thing though

fuel surcharge is included comes to 138.95 w/preacher curl or 119.90 with leg ext, not bad at all...

The white bench looks more solid but I can't tell any major difference. Probably just go with the grey.

think the white is just standing out more because it is white so it looks more bold, the dimensions/weight are the same also... i emailed them and they told me onyl differance is the color so i will probably get the grey

Like I said I was just going on looks. Go with the grey since it is cheaper and they are essentially the same.

The white won't scratch up as easy as the gray. The old stuff use to be gray and they are making everything white powder coated now.
I read his on the site somewhere .
